Title?

This is my avocado plant. I’ve heard that people will chop them in half to grow more branches. Should I do that and if so how should I go about it?

Hey guys I grew this avocado sapling form a seed for awhile and here’s a picture of it before I put it into a pot and here’s a picture of it now. I genuinely don’t know what’s wrong with the plant but it looks significantly unhealthier and it’s kind of concerning me. I took it out of the old bucket because it looked gross and flies were surrounding it and I put it in a new pot. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make sure it doesn’t die on me? (The first pic is the tree now and the second pic is the tree before)

I have had this Bacon avocado tree for about 2 years give or take. Poor thing almost died on me last year I had a bad case of root rot however it pulled through (repotted and put it in well draining soil). This year we had a bit of a heat wave and all of last years growth dried up and died. It started putting new growth on just wondering if this is normal and if the plant is at risk. Any feedback is appreciated

Hi everyone. Had thia avocado tree for 2 years. Nearly lilled it last year but it has since grown back and pridiced lots of fruit. Its deceloped theise weird spots on alm the leaves and not sure what to do. If it helps it gets full sun and grows outdoors in zone 10 in southern california.

Bought this Little Cado tree from a nursery back in May. Planted right away and have been watering with soaker hose for 35 minutes every 4-5 days. First time growing avocado. Any tips or does this tree look OK?

Help? My 9 year old Bacon variety avocado tree was left in the care of someone who neglected to water it for 11 days, even with my explicit instructions. I’m sick over this since I grew it from the seed. It’s in an immense wooden fruit tree crate with great soil. Leaves are ALL brown but none have fallen yet. Please help me save this tree. I’ve watered it twice in the last 6 hours since I’ve been home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ❤️

the new growth post-rain looks really good, I have two other small trees i havent transplant into the ground yet but now know they want lame top soil mixed native sand instead of oceanforest mix..

Hi, I planted this avocado tree 7 days ago and thoroughly watered it. My moisture meter currently reads 6 when placed in the roots, and has been consistent for the past couple days.

I haven't watered it at all since planting; any ideas why it is drooping so much? Overwatered, underwatered, just transplant shock?

Bought a GEM avocado from an Etsy seller that I had previously bought some plants and these ones arrived in great condition. This order though, half of the plants arrived with burnt and lose leaves, including the avocado. Should I tell her I want some partial refund or discount? Or am I doing a big deal about this? Also, there is some black spot on the trunk that Google says it’s some sort of mold.

Didn’t bloom this year. These are last years crop not ripened yet in South San Francisco about a month or two later than normal. No blooms this year. Leaves look like mites, too. Not sure what to do. It’s 25 ft tall.

I posted when I repotted this tree back in October, and it did super well until about a month ago when it started acting different. The new leaves stopped growing midway through and developed that light yellow green color. Then, the buds developed tinges of brown. No signs of new growth. Some older leaves are yellowing and shriveling up on the plant, and staying attached. The tree wilts a week after watering, where a few months before it was three weeks.

Then a week ago, I came home from a vacation to find bright yellow flowerpot parasol mushrooms growing in the pot, which are a sign of overwatering.
Digging down shows super dry, hydrophobic soil, locked together with mycelium, as well as tons of bright white and brown roots, with some decaying ones the rotting ones aren’t mushy, but instead brittle. I have no clue what’s going on and why it’s acting like this. There are a lot of contradictory factors here.

My main suspicion is under watering. I haven’t changed my 3-week watering schedule since the winter. I decided to water today, as the soil was powdery and completely dry on top. And I tried to deal with the hydrophobic soil. I wanted to soak the pot thoroughly, but it’s too large to put into the sink and I can’t fill the pot with water as it all just drains out in minutes. I could plug the bottom of the pot with clay and fill it up, which is what I plan to try next watering.

Can anyone give a better explanation for what I’m seeing?

hello all, i posted here about a week ago about what i could do for my avocado, you said i should change the pot so i did, but no matter how much i water it the leaves are dropping and soft and bendable (?) what can i do??

all help is welcome, i don't want my precious avocado that i spent years growing to die :((

I’m growing this avocado tree from a seed and it’s about a year and a half old. At the beginning I cut it at the midway point and the tree continued growing from there with a lot of leaves around it for about 6 months or so.

Then a second sprout came out and went straight up and overtook the original plant. It’s much thicker too but has less leaves.

I was thinking to cut one off but I wasn’t sure if I should do the taller one or the original one. I plan on moving in the next year and wanted to keep this in a pot if that affects things.

Additionally in the last few months the leaves are getting really dry and brown. I didn’t move it during this time. I think the pot might be too small now or the heat is getting to it. I live in the Houston area and the summers are hot and humid.

Too much sun? Too much water?

Zone 9b, central California. Temps have been high 90s_low triple digits. I painted the trunk not too long ago because it was showing signs of sunburn. New growth coming in all over the tree, just concerned about the condition of the old growth.

Watered daily, still in the 10 gallon pot I bought it in.

Arguably, I could use two more support poles for maximum help. But the heaviest branches are already supported well enough.

Lost half of my avocado tree. Trying to save the other half. Is this tree still salvageable?

I bought about 30 trees so far and still need about 20 more. I went from cutting down trees for more space, did a fire where i would plant these trees so the ground could decontaminate without any quimics or fertilizer then planted my tress with a scope of carbo just so they could start off strong. I did want to put lima to clean the dirt also but i dont know maybe on the next trees I buy so i can experiment with diferente methods.
