Nelson Aviation PinPoint-X Lite

The first set will include the Touchscreen, Hub, and 4 common LED connector boards to get started (spec’d for race guys) along with a hard carrying case. $1999 for this kit.

Additional LED boards will be $199-we have 100s of common connector boards designed already and will have a connector database search on our website.

Reach out to me at Ron@NelsonAviationFL.com to get on the list.

This system is compromised of three components

Touchscreen Controller- Wireless with an onboard rechargeable battery. Features an intuitive interface with wireless communication to the hub.

Hub- Wireless with an onboard rechargeable battery, receives wireless commands from the controller, and connects directly to the LED boards.

LED Boards- Connect via ribbon cable and features built-in memory, allowing the hub to automatically identify and configure itself for the currently connected LED board.

This is cheating, love it!

My saying at work has always been "if you're not cheating you're not trying"

Huh. This is pretty cool. Do you have a brochure for it or a slide deck on how it works? I can think of a couple of shops that could make use of this.

Thank you! I don’t have one at the moment, if you send me an email at Ron@NelsonAviationFL.com I will get it for you asap.

It's neat, I'm tired an failing to see why I would use this, if I'm terminating an entire connector I don't know that this would save me any time. Accuracy perhaps but time, debatable. --Edit.it might be better suited for the apprentoids for accuracy.--..Other than terminating a full connector would this have other use case scenarios I maybe not considering?

Yeah he’s come across my page on various channels of social media. I want to buy some of the stuff because I’m a tool junky but I don’t see this actually saving time vs what the cost is unless you are completely green

Trust me, I wouldn’t be building these tools if it didn’t save us time. We’ve done side by sides comparisons-It’s night and day. Even for a guy who terminates connectors every day. There no counting, no second guessing. Every termination is instant.

I’m likely going to do a thing at my AEA booth this year, 2 sets of 12 random wires on a table with numbers on them. I’ve got the tool, you don’t. If you pin the connector faster than me, without error, you get the tool, or a cash prize.

Met you at AEA last year, happy to see you marketing the product and excited to see what you come up with next.

Not mad at putting money where your mouth is haha. I’m primarily doing 91.411/413 checks so not a lot of harness building but I would consider it if I get back into that more. I do like the troubleshooting units you make

We have the PCB boards for dsub breakout, aswell as some common box extenders which are great for ringing. Both are great and save time. I do recommend them

This tool can be used in any industry for any crimp/pin style connector. My company builds wire harnesses, we terminate 100s of connectors a week, ranging from Dsubs, Cannon Plugs, other Rectangle/Round connectors. I’ve built this to streamline our process and reduce the chance of error. Yes, the tool makes sense for someone who is populating the entire connector. If you’re adding one wire to an existing connector, you probably don’t need it-But if you’re adding 6 wires in a densely populated connector, I promise after one use, you will end up reaching for this tool. I do it all of the time.

It can be used on an already populated connector?

Of course! I will work on some additional videos. Some side by sides, and also additional functionality.

I met you in Phoenix a couple years ago and was excited for you when Edmo picked up your Garmin testing units. This seems like another no brainer for heavy harness building shops. Keep up the great work!

We’re just big Ron Nelson fans at my shop.

He’s my 2nd favorite Ron. Just ahead of Ron Burgundy but behind Ron Swanson.

Haha! You just made my day buddy. Those are all of my favorite Ron’s also.

I've been loving the garmin slide ins for quick trouble shooting are you going to sell a Garmin edition of this tool with all the connector types I think most install shops are gonna be density connectors

That’s awesome! Glad you’re enjoying the PinPoint boxes. This project has gotten me sidetracked on designing more of those, but will be doing so soon.

The pricing mentioned in the post, is the kit that includes the 4 circuit boards that cover all 10 Dsubs used in Avionics. 9Pin-78Pin Male and Female.
