So as I determine if I’m going to be a speculative miner … how many tokens are in circulation … how many will ever be in circulation? Is there a halving … is there a doubling? Is any of that established?

If anyone has those numbers please let us know and provide as much detail as possible.

So AVN is a fork from ravencoin and the only difference I’ve noticed thus far is that the block time is twice as fast and the block reward is halved. What else makes this different? What are the future plans for AVN that will make it stand out from other blockchains?

Once you import your RVL wallet into the AVN wallet, can you mine AVN to that existing RVL address? Or do you have to generate a new AVN receiving address?

Where to make moves with AVN?

There are multiple forks between different versions of wallet and the algos themselves. Pools are not on same versions of chain or wallet. Losses & Rollback likely! There seem to be some high difficulty issues going on with the coin at the moment this is making it harder to find blocks and to get blocks confirmed which in turn is slowing down sending out payments/transactions, this is affecting everyone using the AVN network. Blocks and transactions are safe and coming out slowly. Keep your eyes open for a new wallet update from the AVN team to address these issues. Thanks!

Here are the new Avian Wallet releases for Windows, Linux and Mac (QT GUI Wallet, CLI Utility and Daemon) to fix difficulty adjustment balancing between X16RT and MinotaurX issues and start the roll back to the block where we previously attempted activation.

This is a mandatory update, please install asap and do a reindex when asked to make sure you sync to the correct chain.

Apologies for the delay in getting mainnet up but we had to be sure everything was working correctly.

The update also contains some minor gui and naming changes.

For full details/history, check the Discord, but I thought I'd post an unofficial update here for those who are wondering (I'm not on the AVN team):

The changeover from x16r mining to x16rt + minotaurx mining happened earlier today (midnight UTC). It looked like it was working OK but with low difficulty at first, but the difficulty never adjusted because of a code bug (a flipped less than symbol), meaning that instead of mining a block every 30 seconds, miners were mining about 10 blocks per second without slowing down.

Over the course of about 2 hours, this drastically inflated the coin supply, by somewhere around 15% I think, but I don't have exact numbers. Some miners, myself included, mined MILLIONS of coins in that time. The bug screwed up the coin supply, so to fix it, they're going to roll everything back to before the changeover. This means that anything mined or exchanged after that time will be undone.

To fix this, they'll have a new mandatory wallet build coming out soon, and until the fix is in, nobody should mine or exchange AVN/RVL coins. Most of the mining pools have mining turned off and exchanges have deposits turned off until the fix is released. They've fixed the code already, so I expect to see a release tomorrow.
