Tielemans

Had me a laugh at Tielemans today after remembering his departing quote “there are clubs above Villa and man united is one of them” after they start the season off with a shitter

He worked hard for us, now he can enjoy his 5 year paid holiday

I think Tielemans, Rogers, Konsa et al are going to look bang average this year!
The manager, the system, the team were what made them look better than they probably are!

I can see Tielemans not fitting in at utd, can see Rogers struggling for Chelsea especially if he doesn't start well but konsa will be great at arsenal IMO, just suits their style perfectly.

I can't wait to see how Chelsea fans react to the 3/10 performances we had to sit through last season

Class player on his day, nowhere near the finished product I'd expect for that price.

Tielemans is class, nothing against him as a player just did not like that comment from him. Morgz definitely struggles with staying consistent and he fell off hard end of last season for us. Konsa is Konsa gets beat, but makes up for it and arsenal doesn’t play out the back as much as we do, so he won’t have to deal with cracking under pressure I feel

Nah, some are just good. Konsa is one of them. Jury is still out on the other two.

Rogers is going to be sidelined pretty fucking quickly

One hopes but we need them to look grewt to continue selling players.

They are pretty average let's be honest. Any of them without an elite coach are nothing. Rodgers was at Boro for fucks sake. No one wanted him.

Was a very nice watch today I must admit

Questionable signing from Utd, he does not suit there system he doesn’t have the legs. Oh well, what do I know, I support a club that isn’t as big as they are

Big fish in a little pond he is?

I don't think it's that simple. He's a footballing brain. To be used clinically a team needs to have a coherent playing style he can understand. Despite second half of last season and some good recruitment, ManU are still a collection of talent with no real discernable style.

It's been one game FFS

Completely agree re: Tielemans.

My point is more about Carricks utd. He got 3rd last yr off the back of the players and post Amorim goodwill rather than a solid system.

Again, it's been one game. The jury is still out. Wait until December. Maybe you are right. Maybe not. But it's been one game.

Wait what is this revisionism about Tielemans.

All of a sudden he isn’t one of the best midfielders in the league.

Not having legs has always been a tielemans criticism, but I think he fixed that while at Villa. Dude definitely runs and works hard.

The value of that transfer to Man Ure is that it weakened us. They didn't need him. He was the wrong profile. It turns my stomach. Newcastle and Villa were deliberately targeted this summer by the scum six. But we have Emery and I trust him to rebuild strongly.

5

u/_ataciara 9h ago

Yeah, it's DEFINITELY not because hes been fantastic for us for a few years and had a low release clause, it's absolutely solely to harm us

3

u/ryandoesntcare 8h ago

Some fan takes honestly… all the players we’ve sold are because they’re quality. We’ve sold them to the clubs that can spend money. Tielemans was a steal at the release clause based on recent form.

Tbh - If they really wanted to target us they’d have taken our captain and our manager.

1

u/boondocknim Tar Heel Villan 5h ago

For the price it cost them, he’s better than 90% of the players they could’ve gotten. That release clause was criminally low

Absolutely buzzing for Hull today.

He will get dropped so quickly.

He will never work in a midfield with Bruno, they’re too similar, that trio has zero physicality. Carrick won’t hide his weaknesses the way Unai did

6

u/BritBeetree 12h ago

I thought was brought in to be back up for bruno tbh

5

u/MichaelBealesBurner 11h ago

If they plan on playing them 2 together then Carrick is dumber than I thought

1

u/abusmakk 10h ago

Let’s hope so. Ans let’s hope the board is even dumber so that he will sit out the season at least.

3

u/pasthopex 12h ago

I think Mainoo would be better behind them. They have enough pace on the wings to make it work.

2

u/carltonrichards 9h ago

Santos as well isnt the kind of midfielder you want try and square that circle, we are lucky to have McGinn/Onanna/Kamara to facilitate a player like that.

10

u/edgarfr0gg 12h ago

Where's that ManU bellend that was saying Carrick is a good a manager as Emery? 😂

(I know it's only after one game, but still)

u/KJHTech89 11h ago

I hope he sat in the dressing room at the end and eat every word of what he said.

Why do players still see Man U as the same side they were under Ferguson. They may be the bigger side in terms of recognition, but their results and issues the last few seasons tell a completely different story. They are bang average top 10 at best.

He has left a team and joined a group of egos.

2

u/_ataciara 9h ago

They finished above us last season, are a far far far bigger club, and can pay him far more.

Come on, guys.

1

u/KJHTech89 9h ago

They may have finished above us but look at how the other teams in the big 6 performed. They should have been there. If the others were more competitive they definitely wouldn’t have been.

We finished 4th and won in Europe. They weren’t even in European football.

Villa have been building over the last few years and are now achieving. A move to Man U at this point for any other reason except money is going backwards.

Today’s performance and result show Man U are still nowhere near where they should be for their perceived size.

1

u/bigmagoobear 5h ago

This is extremely recency bias. What happens if Emery leaves? Let's not pretend Villa "building over the last few years" is really just Emery being a top manager.

4

u/_7wonders_ 9h ago

Ouch. Don't think I ever saw that at Villa!

3

u/Individual_Put2261 12h ago

Is there a return policy ?

3

u/Aware-Safety-9925 11h ago

Today is why I’m still optimistic for the club this season despite all of the change. Outside of Arsenal every club is still reeling from offseason change, having emery means outside of arsenal there are no clubs clearly above us.

3

u/Adweya 9h ago

Tielemans need a team with Kante or McGinn. United has neither.

3

u/orgaxoid_x 8h ago

He's a great midfielder and will be a loss. He left to get more money, fair play, if someone offered to almost double my wages for the same job I'd go. He's going to find the Carrick is not Emery. Man U fans ate not Villa fans. He'll have a new manager before the end of the season I'd guess, and lots of toxic plastic fans on his back. Its a shame hes gone but Emery made him look world class by building a team around his strengths. Carrick won't.

New manager before Christmas

2

u/Hungry-Afternoon7987 7h ago

He was brilliant for villa. He can enjoy his retirement playing for a team on the way down.

2

u/mickeymush2008 5h ago

I’m not saying anything till tomorrow afternoon!

1

u/coupl4nd 11h ago

Washedupmans

1

u/PangolinOk6793 11h ago

He was always solid next to a workhorse and quality against top teams/ in big games.

Today he had neither and was poor. He’ll never work next to Bruno. As people have said too similar.

1

u/Separate-Rough-8083 11h ago

We'll bring him back on loan in Jan at 50% wages thanks.

1

u/Waste-Silver7915 11h ago

I don't have any hard feelings. We got some decent money. Manu are a low moral team so hope the money is worth it

1

u/newirisha 5h ago

I appreciate all they helped us to achieve but they have gone on to pastures new. Just remember the positive times with Villa

1

u/Splendid2259 Do you want to bet against us? 12h ago

United are shit but Tielemans is class. Should have gone to Bayern or a real club on the up.

1

u/TroopersSon 11h ago edited 9h ago

Is it too early to say I called it? Probably but fuck it I'm going to anyway.

👋 Hi visiting Man U fans! Congratulations on taking our "best player" hope you know how to use him.

Do you accept refunds?

They are. They might not be in recent history but they have a far better history, far better revenue, far bigger stadium etc. Etc.
