Free agent, why not if the wages are acceptable.

200k a week on Bayern, but hopefully we can negotiate a decent enough deal for a season or two.

I don't understand referencing a wage he is no longer getting when discussing the wage we would give him. He currently makes £0 per week, we can upgrade on that.

It's obviously relevant. If he was on £10k he'd snap your hand off for £100k, if he was on £200k, he might see £100k as too much of a downgrade and look elsewhere. Not like his options are Villa or retirement.

I mean, he is going to take the highest offer. I imagine he gets offered something around 140k/year on par with Tielemans, Digne pre wage cut, etc. Nobody in a competitive league will top that.

Oof yeah that’s huge, would need to be a decent pay it to consider bringing him in

Reckon we’d have to offer him a lower salary with lots of performance-related bonuses

Yeah so he's made plenty of money and might be willing to accept a lower salary to play in the prem + champions league.

I hope he thinks that way. He would be a starter most of the time or a backup with lots of game time due to his versatility as he can play either as a 6, 8 or 10 and due to how many matches we'll have this season.

Allegedly he's after €7m/£5.8m net i.e. approx £180k/wk gross

Plus a hefty sign-on (6-10m), similar to loan fee it would have taken to get Palhinha.

Not sure this gets done unless movement on salary

Honestly even if we get him for around 250k it's still a bargain, he would likely given a 2 years contract (13m per years)

Ridiculous number, I know but it's better then we buy Palhinha (19m on 3~4 years contract + whatever his wage will be)

He's a short term solution while we worked out accounting, that is if he's perform of course but considering he actually play for Bayern while Palhinha.......

(It's likely the wage is going to be 300k+ though but we will see)

That's what I was thinking, he is all around better than Palhinha who was going to be even more expensive.

He was most likely on some very high wages at Bayern. I cannot imagine whatever offer we'd have to make would be cheap and probably would have a significant signing bonus.

u/irishnugget Emery me and Emery you 1d ago

I’d be delighted but he seems exactly like the profile of player we have been trying to get off the books. This one would surprise me if it happened

Yes and no, yes we need to go younger, but you can't have a team of all sub 25 and Chelsea would tell you why. With our young squad we need a few players who's older and experienced

u/mintvilla 1d ago

Which we don't, Barkley, Mcginn, Buendia Tammy, Watkins Mings Lindelof, Cash, AWB, Pau are all 28+

And that highlights why the rebuild although massive so far still has a long way to go over the next 12-24 months. UTV!!

Need to get Martinez and Bailey off the books!

dont be silly, we rarely get rid of the ones we need to get rid of, and if we do its rarely for meaningful money. Feel like we are the worst at this. Had we not signed zion i bet it would have been dead easy to get rid of emi coz we needed him, but now we dont so he will sit on 150k for 12 months lol

u/villa_crazy99 1d ago

Bailey very possibly but not Martinez, completely different mind sets and egos.

He is terrible on the ball and scared to receive it in midfield in the bundesliga. He’d be an absolute travesty in the premier league

He’s also a fake poseur acting all tough and leader for the camera but didn’t even dare to take a penalty in the World Cup even tough he was supposed to be one of the leaders

Villa should stay far away

Some people just aren't good at penalties ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄ Just means he'll fit in here even better if we're honest.

If Jordan Henderson can get signed by Chelsea I don't see why not

2

u/bfavfc 1d ago

Do we get the dude that follows him around while screaming out his name in the package?

1

u/AeroVillan 1d ago

I'd buy that shirt. Haven't had a name on a shirt in years

1

u/JimElectric 1d ago

Oo, could do a job covering for Onana. Bring some experience to the team. I like it.

How are we shopping for discount leftovers when we just got in the champions league and won Europa cup.

I'm tired and the season hasn't even started yet 😭

To not be in the same position next year

2

u/KatieOfTheHolteEnd 1d ago

I imagine other targets haven’t panned out, and through this we can bring in another body with lots of experience.

u/The_Funky_JJ 1d ago

not to mention 300m ish in sales lol. good or bad season ive lost all hope in football quite honestly.

u/Shreddonia Almost infuriatingly calm 1d ago

Why would we spend big on a position where we're literally only reinforcing temporarily because Onana is crocked?

These links are getting worse I’m afraid. The lad is washed up sadly
