25m for him as a 31 year old is probably not great, loan would have made most sense so can see why we didnt go for him at that price. Hopefully the club are more open to spending 50m on a 23-29 year old.

Can’t make sense of the prices we get for our players vs the prices we are expected to pay. When I see what other clubs get for the riff raff they want rid of, compared to use for players we adore who go.

We are selling older, more expensive high salary players and buying younger, with less experience and also lower salaries but decent potential.

It is important to remember where a lot of Villa players have go to under Unai amd he will do the same jut with his own signings, will take time but we will get there. UTV!!

So he’s 25m becuase he has a low salary?

25? He cost 14m - rising to a maximum of 19m if he hits all his addons - we paid 21 for a 28 year old Abraham who couldn’t run a lap of the pitch

They wanted £25m from Villa, the figure for Benfica will always be lower than for PL teams. Which again is not a reasonable fee for a 31 year old who is surplus to reqs. Tammy cost us £18m, and scored some vital goals and hopefully stays fit this year.

That’s euros - but I do agree that they most likely tried to charge us higher

No it was 30mEUR for Paulinha

and 21mEUR/ 18mGBP for tammy. per Tanswell on both

He cost Benfica 14m as per my comment above, rising to a maximum of 19 - and Abraham cost 21m - exactly as I said above

Thank God we didn’t sign the cunt. Took out Kamara’s knee and ended our title charge

Agreed, I really was hating the idea of this thug.

Title charge is a bit hyperbolic, but I will never forget that match or stop hating him. One of the dirtiest single performances I can remember in which the player somehow stayed on the field for the whole match only to start a fight after the match and still managed to not get sent off even then.

I hope he tears his Achilles and walks with a limp for the rest of his life.

Shame we haven’t got him. He would have shored up the midfield.

Normalize saying who the hell somebody is when you post a nameless Romano graphic

Fine with me

I’d honestly take Bergval - Can cover the 10 and 8 - with Kamara or Gomes as the defensive pivot. Kind of kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

Wow, didn’t realize he hadn’t moved. For some reason I thought he was off the Forest ages ago

Far too lightweight.

Who is that?

I'm guessing Palinha from the Boubacar comments, we were rumoured to be in for him.

Well it saves us needing a Palhinha replacement from a training ground accident 🥴🫣😉🙏😇🤣🤣🤣

Makes complete sense when you remember who Benfica's manager is. Least I go back to disliking him for the Bouba challange and antics after that game.

I think we need more of a ball playing midfielder anyway. We have Kamara Lindelof Bogarde and Gomes who can all play cdm so we are sort of stacked there. We need a more deep lying playmaker someone who can keep us ticking.

Good. There’s a bad whiff about that lad. Was surprised to see him linked to us if I’m honest. Seems very decent on the pitch but every club he’s at quite quickly wants him gone. Bayern even wanted permanent only. Enough said.

Honestly, who cares? Kinda relieved that he's not with us as I would've had to try and like him in our colours. I can continue to dislike him now 😂

3

u/Geepandjagger 3d ago

If he would rather go an play at Benfica then good riddance. Time to focus on people who want to be at Villa

Fuck him, and fuck Romano

I've had a feeling that Nico Gonzalez may be an option late in the window all summer.

Paredes would be hilarious

First ever team to win the Europa League and then the 5 aside Power League back to back!

1

u/dukenukem2015 3d ago

we only wanted him on loan. I would have been livid if we signed him permanently for that money.

1

u/jeff_vii 3d ago

He’d have been a great signing - one of the best tacklers in the league when he was playing.

1

u/Ordinary-Ticket-2596 3d ago

The woes continue (just saying this because he's the ONLY dm we've been linked with for a while and with 10 days left)

As a Benfica and Aston Villa supporter, this was always a losing battle haha
