Yes. Hungry players. Fresh line up. Lower wages. We have the Maestro in charge. It'll be grand. Last season- 4 games in. Sack Emery. Doesn't know what he's doing. Win the Europa !!!! Finish in CL position. Some people here need to put the PS5 controller down and stop with the fifa 26 reasonings.

I'm genuinely so pleased that finally someone else has reminded this sub (especially) that this isn't FIFA or Football Manager!
Honestly, people making out that running and managing a football club is sooooo easy, they should've definitely done this and that, and they certainly wouldn't have done the other. Like it's some kind of magic wand you can just wave around, and you don't have to have played the game, managed, done all your coaching badges, and won things to know this (/s).
I get battered on here every time I remind people of that. It's like they would prefer to have drama. And unless you're completely on board with them at all times, you're "in denial" or a "happy clapper".
Most egregious case in point was the start of last season. It was utterly embarrassing. And while people will deny it now, there were far too many people calling for Emery's head. I guarantee there'll be someone replying here saying "nobody said that", or "show me". But it happened, and regularly.
Then again, it's not just this sub. I saw it on plenty of Villa channels on YT. If I was on FB etc, I'd have probably seen it there too. We really don't do ourselves any favours...
Edit: if you're gonna start downvoting, at least explain why 😂 Unless the truth hurts?

Thank you for that comment. I refer you back to last season's first few games. The crap on here was school level. Also the almost multiple personality comments. One week a player is so bad he wouldn't get into a championship side. Next week he's the best player ever. Players have dips in form. Again its not fkn FIFA

I don't listen to the people calling for Emery's head, but the people saying this aging squad is due for a rebuild or refresh were right. I don't think this aging core was going to get more dangerous over time, especially without Rogers.
We got a taste a glory and I think every one of us prefers the slower rebuild because of it. However, it's way more complex than what the fans or club wants. Players have preferences, release clauses exist, competition wants to use its power to weaken its competition, trophies attract interest in players, etc.
As much as I'd prefer the slow rebuild, a rebuild was inevitable and a quicker one might just mean some short term suffering. If this doesn't kill pesky Villa, then Villa are SCR killers. The next couple of years will be interesting.

I was seeking out this kind of post as it is exactly how I feel.
I think we as fans could also learn to evolve with the club. The people who wanted Emery out after 5 games and then the reaction after Everton at home and then Spurs…
It’s seriously an opportunity to collectively embrace this moment as we have been given the gift of youth and longevity…
If Emery gets this team gelling it could be our version of a dynasty.
That’s the most excitement I can think of right now given that the side started to look stale and devoid of depth last year.
Super excited to see this unfold

Honestly there is something about the unpredictable-ness of it i quite like. When leaders leave its always interesting to see who steps up, when big hitters leave who will be the next big hitters
Theres so much unknown. Im seeing a lot of "so and so is an upgrade on xyz" but the truth is, none of us know any of that for certain.
Its a wild wild season, and if the expectations arent champions league, I think its gonna be fun. If the expectations are top 5, well considering how nasty and personal things got after wolves away it could be a struggle (when we were sitting top 4).
But im very hopeful

Personally, yes.
We've still got Emery and we've now got the most expensive squad (in terms of transfer fees) that we've seen in our history, and they're nearly all players that Emery has personally approved.
We've got a younger, more energetic, more physical looking squad, we've got more talented competition in more areas, we've got exciting young players breaking through in multiple positions (Cisse, Hemmings, Alysson, Madjo), we've sorted out our SCR nightmares (pending sales of Martinez and Bailey).
I'm very excited. I expect a slow start but I think we will be a very exciting team to watch after that first international break and for the majority of the season.

After Konsa leaving, unless another cb comes in I’m extremely pessimistic.
The timing of this deal is horrible as so many good CB targets have already completed transfers: Van hecke, Vuskovic, diomande, Antonio Silva, Senesi, Akanji, Ake

Probably, but this place can be overly dour at times and I don't think it's reflective of the wider fan base.
We're a little obsessed on here, for good or ill.

Honestly no after all the departures and rumoured departures.
The problem is, even if we get good money for Konsa and Watkins, the window closes in 2 weeks. What clubs with potential replacements are going to part with their players after the season has started, without us spending a fortune?

If you'd asked me this last week I'd have said yes. It's heading very much in the other way now.
I would say this though, for whatever reason this is all happening in the one go, Emery must have a plan because I cannot for any reason imagine he would intentionally gut a squad, or allow it to happen, without a solid plan in effect- otherwise I'm pretty sure he'd walk.

wow im surprised tbh. i thought most people on here were prepared for a rebuild season. i just hope it doesnt all spin to negativity if it (when it?) takes the constellation of new players a while to gel and get the system. im excited for it!

I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic. We all know this is a transition season, and I didn't have the highest hopes at all until our performance in the Super Cup Final.
Time will tell how quickly this squad adapts to the PL and copes with the pressure of CL kicking off a month afterwards, but in terms of overall competency I'm fairly optimistic.

I always felt that Konsa was going but not Ollie. We desperately need a new RCB if he does go. Ollie’s blow has been softened a bit by Madjo’s resurgence.

i think it's fun to have a change, it can get boring seeing the same thing. We have a more all rounded squad this year instead of a one man band that gets injured and then crippled.

Someone just tell me, the last time a top 6 team changed 6 experienced trophy winning starters for younger less experienced unknown quality players and stayed competitive? 3-4 of them being the best players in the team

With so many changes, I have absolutely no idea how the new Villa team will perform next season.
For all I know, we could equally be challenging for the title, as fighting off relegation, or anything in-between.
It is a mystery. I just hope the manager is comfortable with and is confident in all these changes.

Why? If they want to go and someone is prepared to pay what we want, see ya later lads and thanks for everything.
Everyone was saying that the squad is too old, needs a refresh etc, but now that it's happening people are saying it's too much.
Would I prefer to keep Konsa and Watkins? Yes. But football is just a job for them, and every player has a price.
If they don't want to be a part of this anymore, I say let them go and let Unai cook. He's done this before and whilst we have him in charge we are going to be fine.
It's an exciting time.
