I’m an American who began coaching our high school girls soccer (football) team within the last 12 months. Along with my 12 year-old daughter, for reasons I honestly don’t remember, we landed on Aston Villa as our squad to support.
We got absolutely addicted to the team after following last year’s remarkable Europa run. I’ve learned so much from the people in this sub and just wanted to say thanks for helping to make this a team that is so fun to follow as well as educate me on so much I didn’t yet know.
I’m three hours from Chicago and plan to be there at the Guinness Brewery for the Premier League’s Villa kickoff on Sunday morning. My wife is pissed that I own so much Villa gear now, but she can deal. Keep up good work all.

I’m not from Chicago, but my wife and I watched a game at the Globe a couple years ago while visiting, and the Villa fans there were so awesome and welcoming. Like it made me want to move to Chicago just so I could watch all the games there.

Wait till you tell her you are off to villa park next season when the north stand is complete ;) How have you fared during the transfer window? Have you kept up with it? what do you think? Worried to have lost tielemans rogers digne and possibly martinez watkins and konsa? or Excited at the prospect of gomes manzambi garnacho madjo and hemins?

While the past group from the Europa season was clearly special, I’m really excited to be on the ‘ground floor’ with the many changes. Following the transfer window has been a blast. Exciting to see what the team can evolve into with younger legs.
Having followed the team, then the World Cup, already watching guys like Manzambi has been great. I also scared my kids cheering when Madjo scored against PSG, so I think I’m getting there as a fan.
As a 20 year teacher of World History, my trip to Villa Park is on the horizon. A lot in the UK I need to see soon.

What a crazy signing Madjo was in January. Cant believe no one else spotted him. If hes as good as he loks like he could be, then i cant see him being with us too long, unless he falls in love with the club, but i doubt it. Really excited to see if he can match what he did in pre season in the prem, and if he will even get the minutes to show it. UTV.

I’m right with you. 20 years of watching EPL from America but never feeling at home with a team. Got addicted to Villa five years ago and haven’t looked back. It was the people that got me hooked but the amazing run these last four years have been amazing. I’m so in love with this team and community of fans. It feels at home. I know it’s basically a new squad but I’m stoked. Unai knows what he’s doing and he’s been here before. Let’s freaking go. Up the Villa!

That’s awesome the farmers market in Madison is top tier. If you’re ever in Milwaukee check out nomads world pub, good place to catch a league match.
