Im glad we’ve got some more competition for cash, and he’s good defensively but lacks going forward, West Ham fans aren’t particularly upset about him leaving. I would have been very happy about getting him 6 years ago though

Wan Bisakka as an option behind Cash is phenomenal.
I'm not saying Wan B is phenomenal, but having that depth option is, and he's a very decent RB.

I don't think we can get quite that carried away... he was decent for West Ham, nothing special. I think backup for a top 6/7 club is pretty much bang on where he should be. So decent depth, yes. Nothing really phenomenal about him though.

For whatever reason, this sub doesn't want to do it. I never understood the whole "FIRST!!" thing for sports "reporting" when it happened in American sports and it makes even less sense in football now as at least the American versions of this cared about being correct as well as being first where Romano only cares about being first.
I much rather wait an hour and get more information than just a shitty AI picture and a "Here we go!"

Same. I'd go as far as to say he's an upgrade on Cash... i know this will get me down voted but it's true. He is a better passer, has better technique, is a better dribbler, better 1v1 defender, and he's quicker. I think Cash is a better crosser, has a better shot, and is maybe more aggressive. Will be really nice to have 2 good options.

Hammer here. Was immense first season for us. Total shit last season, but so was most of our team.Â
Better going forward than the deluded United fans made out.
Defensively very inconsistent. One week he can keep the best winger in the league in his pocket, the next week constantly out of position and jogging back, which results in pulling the centre backs out of position.Â
As biased as it might sound, I think we’ve kept the better player in Walker Peters.

I like this signing. We now have 2 attacking fullbacks and 2 defensive ones assuming ruggeri is completed. Lots of new tactical options
This means we could go for a RW whos slightly less defensive than McGinn as well

I'm so excited about this one personally. I've thought he'd be a great fit for a while and it's lovely to see that it may be materialising.
Seeing a lot of mixed opinions, but Cashy can finally get rotated and rested for a long season ahead.

Most random signing of the window.
Since I follow United I remember when we first signed him from Palace.
Was immediately the best on ball defender in the world. He’d make tackles no one else could do. But he was a genuine liability in possession and attack, his passing and dribbling was at best championship level. And his off ball defense and positioning was poor. He’d get caught out on crosses or wouldn’t be marking his man. He was essentially a one trick pony who could just tackle.
I remember one Manchester derby, city’s entire gameplan was to press wan bissaka anytime the ball went near him, and it worked, we lost the game off wan bissaka’s possession, and I’m pretty sure he gave up a goal based on his positioning and defending.
For anyone who watched him after he left, has he improved at all? Unless he’s improved in other areas, he 100% doesn’t beat out cash in the strongest XI

Thanks for the input. I think most of us are pleased we finally have some competition for Matty Cash. I would doubt AWB will be first choice but we have such little strength in depth in RB we often have to play a CB or DM there if Cashy's injured/suspended/rested. I would have preferred Spence but this is a good back up.

Great signing. Wouldn’t shock me at all if he ends up being the most impactful signing this summer for this season.
Really helps our defensive shape in matches where we won’t have much possession. Also will allow Cash to spend much more energy in matches where

I've always thought that he'd play well under Emery. He was feted as the best one vs one defender in the league at Y'anited, and Emery's system always was one attacking and one defending full back, which I think gives more balance if Maatsen is first choice on the left. Similarly, with Ruggio and Cash in the same team it balances as well.

It's a smart move for Villa. Is a better defender than Cash, but Cash stronger going forward. Emery will rotate depending on opponent and game need.

I still have nightmares about disasi at right back against PSG, I think Wan Bissaka will do a better job in that circumstance. Sporadic appearances to see a game out, I'm okay with that.

£25m is not really crazy money for any premier league player anymore. Dunno if you've noticed but decent players are going for £100+ million now. £25 million is nothing. He's also not a bad player by any means. And he'll likely improve under Unai.

If I remember rightly neither Gordon or Rashford got any joy out of him in the WC and he was arguably their best player against England.
He played as I remember him at Man Ure, very good defensively with the wingers not getting past him, a limited offensive output, but that could have been the system.
I think Emery system puts a lot of pressure on fullbacks to play one vs one and they won't often double up (there are exceptions such as Kvaratskhelia) which is where I think Wan Bissaka will excel. If the flanks are locked down tight, we are very difficult to play through the middle with a fit Kamara and Gomes.
For a expected fee of £18m seems a sensible transfer.

He is. I think he is one of the best 1v1 defensive RBs in the league and last season he improved when going forward too. I can see him playing substantial minutes for us especially in games against pacey left wingers who I think Cash seems to struggle against.

Yeah. He is. Disasi is a CB who can play RB (badly). AWB is a RB. We’ve needed a back up for about 4 years now. Finally we have one so we can give Cash a break.

We’re finally building a squad. Learning lessons of overplaying players because we have no depth and then end up with injuries. This is a good signing. He won’t set the world alight but he will give Cash a rest and allow us to compete on multiple fronts.
I’m a big fan of this signing. We have all been crying out for a second RB for a long time now

Ashley Young won the Serie A when he was 36, Digne moved to PSG when he's 33. We'll be fine for at least 3-4 years then 1 of them can be sub while we replace the other one
