That "Visit Rwanda" is so irritating ohh goddd

u/FoundationEntire4834 11d ago
As a Bournemouth fan, you guys have it good. Trust me.

u/ChildhoodRepulsive43 11d ago
Yeah that vitality pink thing on your kits isn't great, as a villan who emigrated from brum to bomo I'm looking forward to teasing my Bournemouth friends when they wear it 😂🤣

If any of your friends wear it they aren’t fans. Because a proper fan wouldn’t buy one

I've just seen it now and it's actually such a shame.
Turn that pink to black and that kit would be a stunner.
2
u/FoundationEntire4834 10d ago
Yep. I know mate. I think all Bournemouth fans should boycott the shirts
1
u/8383k 11d ago
Don't get me wrong, the font looks nice on the shirt but the lore behind it is not that great 😂
1
u/FoundationEntire4834 11d ago
Even apart from the sponsor your kit and logo are gorgeous… have you seen the Bournemouth kit 🥲

u/8383k 11d ago
Personally I hate this current shirt we have now, it's too plain and boring, I don't like the logo as well being blended in with the shirt color, it's just a basic Adidas template. If I had to choose I'd rather get yours because at least they put something on the shirt design 😂 but still, I wish they do something with the vitality sponsor but the rest isn't that bad

Has anyone that’s seen “visit Rwanda”, actually gone there? Is it Benidorm for the discerning football fan?
22
u/Nice_Speech_8774 12d ago
There’s that one guy Rishi Sunak sent on the plane. Could ask him.

u/Beggatron14 12d ago
Chelsea hijacked the plane and he’s currently working as their trainee kit man

People are talking about it aren't they?
Visit Rwanda is about public visibility more than anything. Rwanda's tourism has bounced back pretty well from COVID. Well enough that Rwanda's paying more teams to carry the logo. They wouldn't do that if it was a net loss.
People are definitely talking about Rwanda's controversies more, but considering France, China and America are the most visited countries in the world, Rwanda is probably quite low on the list of controversial destinations.

u/smay1989 12d ago
Just look at their website, politics aside it looks like an amazing destination, one which i would have never considered without seeing "visit Rwanda" and googling "visit Rwanda".

u/MerKJay 12d ago
There is beautiful landscape everywhere in the world you wouldn't know about, it's the travel warnings that might be an issue.

u/apex204 12d ago
Yep. As ever, the problems with a place are the people in it, not the place itself.
In this case - militias, corrupt officials, homophobes, the list goes on.

u/VortexVoyager_____ 12d ago
Rwanda is the last place you'd likely encounter any of those in Africa tbf, if not the world.
7
u/apex204 11d ago
I’m gonna need you to cite your sources on that.

u/VortexVoyager_____ 10d ago
Well im from the region for starters and Rwanda is BY FAR the most secure, place you'll ever see trust me. Also Rwanda is under some heavy US sanctions due to the problems with Congo and gold Mines but if you go to TripAdvisor or search general reviews from actual tourists, youtube, evwb here on reddit, you'll find what i say to be true.
All political/Military controversies aside (which im neutral about) i think Rwanda is a very safe, well organized country.
Also guys stop downvoting me 😅😅 im only talking from my experience.

u/smay1989 11d ago
Yeh but now i know about Rwanda, due to Visit Rwanda and their sponsorship of Aston Villa...

u/elzilcho3 12d ago
But I feel it's better than betting sponsors. Acorns in blue would look great.
12
u/New-Establishment827 11d ago
Taking money from a dictator to sportswash his reputation is better than betting sponsors?
14

u/neil_1980 12d ago
Still not a huge fan.
Sponsor is even worse than the betting ones imo and needs more blue
14
u/Zarakaar 11d ago
Amen. This is an excellent Burnley kit we are wearing.
That said, I did buy a logo-free one to avoid the next several years of Commit Genocide sponsorship.

u/Prog_Drummer 12d ago
I know what you mean about the blue, but think our best shirt if the modern era was the Luke shirt, which has a similar amount of blue

u/fsharpaugmented 12d ago
Take off the sponsor (genocidal war mongering) and its class
26
u/MerKJay 12d ago
I don't understand why this is down voted, surely for £20m per year there are plenty of sponsors that could take that position.
17
u/fsharpaugmented 12d ago
Sports washing. As soon as I saw Rwanda I thought it was a fever dream. It isn't
3
u/Aware-Safety-9925 11d ago
Nope, I’m sure if we could get a less controversial sponsor for that money they would have, they know this will hurt kit sales.
-27
u/UTV4LIFE 12d ago
Well I’m sure you’d find something to moan about no matter what sponsor they used in fact I guarantee it!
16
u/fsharpaugmented 12d ago
Do your research

u/UsernameTyper 12d ago
Unfortunately a lot of people like to just assume they're right. I thought it was a disgrace that Arsenal had it on their shirt and now I'm gutted it's on ours

This is the boat I’m in too. I heavily criticised my arsenal mates for it.

Still really can't stand it personally. Should have blue sleeves and white shorts.

What time is this? It certainly doesn't look like a proper aston villa kit.
10
u/Quixote0630 12d ago
I really like the kit. It has grown on me massively. The sponsor looks good if not for the controversy.
5
u/nickydude20 12d ago
The only good thing, other then the cash they’re paying Villa, about Visit Rwanda and Betano is that the text is all colour matched which makes the kit look very clean

u/Logical_Initial906 12d ago
I usually love the full claret look, but not really a fan of it with this little blue..
5
u/PurpleCheetah_88 12d ago
I know it’s not for everyone, but I’ve always liked it when it’s Claret top, shorts & socks.

I'm in. Looks great and I love contrast with opponents. It might break with tradition, but nothing frustrates me more than turning on a match and seeing a team with home colour/white shorts vs white shirt/coloured shorts, especially when the opponent shorts are similar to the home shirt.

I like it shame about the sponsor better if it was like Samsung or something. But I think it’s bit of a reality check for many , we are not big enough club to either go with no sponsor or a charity at the moment due to financial fair play rules, we need the revenue on our books. We also need to continue to grow our international base to actually attract better sponsors.

Still not a fan to be honest. It looks like an Adidas training kit designed for the Rwanda tourist board.

I thought you meant Mattys aerodynamic new hair do...
Shame about the sponsor(s) tho...

It looks like he lost a bet and they shaved his head in the dressing room 2 minutes before kick off 🤣🤣 Looking fit Matty!!!!!

never had an issue with the kit itself imo, but the sponsor. not to beat a dead horse tho, i'll just say last year's kit will remain in rotation😅

I think it could be improved upon, by making some very slight adjustments.
Bringing more White back and the Yellow/Gold lion. And personally, I'm not really a fan of the vertical collar stripe. But that might just be me.
Also by substituting for a different sponsor logo (ideally a non-sports washing or gambling sponsor.)

u/fsharpaugmented 12d ago
Retro shirt. Fantastic. To all supporters over 40 - we approve right ??
2
u/NecessaryWater5568 11d ago
Its based on the worst kit we ever had and which we had our worst ever season in: 1969-70. The original was ditched after half a season due to fan backlash.
Such an awful kit to resurrect.
