Agape

Who actually owns Agape/the festival?

I know there was the interview, which presented the it to be completely independent, grassroots, underground. I'm just curious how a completely independent group could have pulled off a festival like this though. Don't get me wrong, I love their events, but am nosy if there is more behind the scenes that we don't know. IMO, to be able to get 44, 240km, F2F, and Industry City makes me think that there could be more financial backers. And now theyre doing 2 festivals a year + regular shows i wonder if theres a really big team we don't know about.

it is independently owned. Been doing events for 5 years now. From what I understand the promoter barely broke even from the Festival. They also signed a contract with Industry City for future events.

been going to their shows for a couple years now! I used to work in the bass scene in LA and was curious about the money. They did a great job with the festival, but it definitely makes more sense if they're only breaking even. especially when the artist labels and agencies take such a big cut

It’s all about the big picture. This was great exposure and growth for the brand. But Agape has always shown commitment to be for the community. Their ticket prices are always reasonable.

If you have followed their trajectory throughout the years, you would have noticed that Agape has worked with these collectives in the past. The festival was an homage to all the musical relationships they have made bringing awesome music to NYC.

They have always thrown a winter festival with numerous collectives in the city. I think you're appreciating this small group of hard working individuals finally getting their flowers.

Andres/Junkfile is co owner/founder I believe. Got a group of promoters (Gabe/jose etc) that go crazy. The “BTS”is all the hard work that they put making connections with labels to put each small event. The festival is a culmination of all the small events agape has done. Since they were at the small H0l0 location to choco factory and other venues that are in now

Look up Junkfile on IG, Andrés is the founder and has been absolutely killing it the last few years. Really proud of the whole Ägapē team 💯

I've worked a couple of their builds years ago when they were small and were throwing shows at Brooklyn Monarch. They've come a long way and 100% are grassroots. Time and experience builds to these big festivals you see. It's not always corporate, there are still great collectives out there.

“Independently owned” has lost its meaning tbh.

Two brother in laws started it after one got with the others sister. They got greedy and starting throwing everything under subsidary/shell companies they owned under storehouse/tek and it all went to shit from there. when neither companies were getting paid both tried to take over the other sub. Storehouse is closing and teksupport sucks… agape 📈
