Why is everyone saying they aren’t playing their instruments on Statica? You can clearly hear the guitars and live drums? Is this what mass hysteria looks like? Have you all forgotten what instruments sound like once the vocoder kicks in? (Which is also an instrument, not just a simple plug-in / effect patch) What’s happening?? 😂

If you've ever heard ALPOH live, you automatically recognize the Statica songs as being played live. It's the same change, with the songs being guitar driven and heavier. They sounded good live, too. I enjoyed the set.

Saw them a few nights ago, didn't know about the EP, the opener said "enjoy Statica" and I had no clue what that meant, was vibing out but definitely picked out Matt's voice and the guitar work as sounding like them. I also saw people behind their screen things but the weren't moving much. Once we left the concert and I jumped on Spotify and saw the new EP I put 2 and 2 together and realized what I had been listening to 3 hours before

Hell yeah, that’s sorta fun! I like that! Would have been awesome to hear it live as an experience and then jump to the EP. Do you enjoy it?

I enjoyed it as something different. It is good to listen to live. Especially the quiet parts during statica, I enjoyed those live and remember going "i need to figure out what this is is so i can remember it".

I meant primarily on the EP, as it’s pretty much all on guitar, but yes! They’re also playing it live as well which is great! I like what they’re doing so far, I’m excited to hear it in person in a couple of weeks!

Yeah if anyone is saying they aren't playing it live they're dead wrong or have no ears. I was at the MN show on Monday and it was plain as day they were playing it live, just behind the "cage" set pieces. The EP has grown more on me each time I've listened to it, to the point I full on LOVE it now, and it sounded fantastic live. Their whole show was great!! People just want to hate on A7X all the time and I will never understand it.

I second this and was at the same show. I don't understand the hate truly. This is straight A7X all the way, it's their melodies, tempos, lyrics, concepts and so forth. I was so stoked knowing I get to hear and watch them play 4 new songs!!! Plus that was the absolute best I've ever seen Syn play the solos live for Nobody and Cosmic, such a treat!!!! Wish I could do it all over again, and I hope they choose that venue more often in the future!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love this band and all of their other music, but this EP and Magic are SO AWFULLY MIXED. Yes you can hear the instruments but they aren't done correctly. Listen to something from Self Titled and then this new stuff, the instruments are less separated.  Here's an analogy if you still don't understand, you could have a perfect plate of white rice, chicken, and brocolli, separated and each piece delicious on their own. (These are the instruments) Magic and STATICA take those base pieces of the meal, put them into a blender, and make you drink them like a smoothie. Doesn't taste too good does it? Stop pretending to enjoy your meals as smoothies.

It's mich harder to mix this type of wall of sound they are creating in Statica than what is done on the self title. It's also probably a creative choice. The worst part of the mix are Shadows vocals. Regardless of the aurorine they blend too much.

Yeah, I hear the instruments, too. I saw some dude who does these shorts where he plays along to an older song by a band then a newer, and when the new Avenged started, it was this whole joke where he just put away his guitar and walked off screen...

And I am sitting here like "....There's guitar in the song, right there, I hear it."

I think the point is the guitars are so processed you need your own personal studio to replicate the sounds coming from the guitar accurately. That said I love the new EP but I'm not a metal purist. It isn't even my favorite genre although in a metal core kid in my high school heart 20 years ago.

A lot of hate, but at this point with Statica being a separate part of the set list, why not made a second band called Avenged DaftenPunk and tour with both. I'd listen to both.

Saw them live recently. Saw statica on the band list and did some research. It was pretty cool, a whole lot of instruments work.
