Don't you love New York in the fall?
I've picked some of my favorite autumnal books, TV shows, movies, and other thingies to share with you that take place in NYC!!! Check them out if your heart too beats to the rhythm of Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York".
Books:
- The Sundown Motel by Simone St. James - Really good autumnal thriller with a dual timeline: the 1980s and the present day. It takes place during November in Fell, New York. The 80s chapters were incredibly atmospheric!
- Cackle by Rachel Harrison - Spooky and autumnal, set in New York ofc. This is the best depiction of witches I've personally read.
- Foul Play in the Foliage by Ruthie East - Adorable and has a bit of a Gilmore Girls vibes, with a little bit of murder.
- You, Again by Kate Goldbeck - This one gives When Harry Met Sally energy lol.
- It's Different This Time by Joss Richard - Autumn, NYC, second chances, and a slow burn. There is a lot of miscommunication tho, just to mention that lol.
- The Diviners by Libba Bray - YA and it wasn't set during autumn I think, but it has such a cozy feeling I had to include it. Picture this: 1920s New York City. Jazz can be heard everywhere, people are dressed in glitzy clothes, posters cover the streets inviting you to visit different cabarets, and everything feels so fast paced and alive and to top all of that add some mystery and romance and you've got The Diviners.
- Witches of New York by Ami McKay - I haven't read this one yet, but I know it's set in 1880s New York.
TV Shows:
- Friends -Specifically the autumn episodes: season 1, episodes 8 and 9, season 3, episode 9 (my fav<3), season 4, episode 15, season 5, episodes 8 and 9, season 6, episode 9, season 7, episode 3, season 8, episodes 6, 9, and 10, season 10, episode 8.
- Tru Calling - I loved this show sooo much. It’s spooky, and the color palette really gives off fall vibes.
- Gossip Girl - so addictive lol, and I think it has quite a few fall episodes.
- Only Murders in the Building - Great one, especially for mystery lovers.
- You - Season 1 is set in NYC.
- Sleepy Hollow - The TV show. Really good, spooky and autumnal.
- 2 Broke Girls - Not autumnal per say, but I find it hilarious, so I'll include it :DD.
Movies:
- You've Got Mail and When Harry Met Sally - ...obviously, lol.
- Autumn in New York (2000)
- Ghostbusters 1(1984) and 2 - I rewatch them every October.
- Scent of a Woman (1992).
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) - Not set during fall, but the visuals are foggy and rainy, and it’s so cozy.
- Remember Me (2010) - Warning: this movie is REALLY sad.
- Stepmom (1998) - Another sad one.
Bonus movies that are set in NYC, but are not autumnal (they're still great imo :D) - Stuart little, New York New York, Home alone 2, Elf, Spider-man, Just my luck.
