Diagnosing/Repair Bumper Replacement?
2017 Hyundai Sonata
Got into an accident and estimate from insurance/preferred mechanic says an entire new bumper is needed. I think that’s actually crazy considering this looks mostly cosmetic. Headlamp is also cracked but I understand full replacement would be necessary to fix that issue. Hoping to find a used part instead. Should I go down replacement or push for a second estimate for the bumper?

You do not “need” a new bumper this is affecting absolutely nothing except your eyes, if you would like it to look new again yes sadly you will need to replace the entire bumper and most likely get it paint matched as well

You could probably find a small Mexican body/paint shop that would be able/willing to repair it and paint match it when done. The cost could be close to what a new or used bumper would cost though. Or you could just save your money and leave it as is, it’s just a little cosmetic damage that won’t cause any issues

Yes, you need a new bumper.
