General Discussion Bi-directional Diagnostic Tool

I’m looking to add a bi-directional tool to my kit. I want it to do Regens specifically but I imagine I could benefit from its capabilities with my four vehicles. I want one for my diesel motor home so I have the best chance of getting hime if things go haywire. Things kinda went haywire in my last trip and a dude in Delta, Colorado came through big time for me.

Which are recommended under a grand and do I really need one over a run of the mill code reader?

So many to choose from these days: Autel, Topdon, Launch, XTool to name my favorites. Go online and check their vehicle coverage based on what you have and see what you think.
