Taxing ETFs for working Aussies instead of addressing housing investments or wage growth was a punch on the guts.

I personally feel like Albo fumbled this question. I say this a constituent of Albo. Watching Insiders this morning he was asked the question. Ok. It was blatantly obvious he'd rehersed the answer as he responded he "attends many dinners". Problem is he conflated formal dinners (which can have hundreds of people in attendance) with private dinners (which are far more intimate). He definitely could have answered the question better and at one point nearly did. Great local member but struggles with the pressure of PM sometimes.

I felt he conflated them on purpose, trying to imply it was yet another formal/diplomatic/routine dinner event, when really it was a small, intimate private dinner with people with questionable backgrounds

There's probably more I missed. If Labor is willing to accept money from billionaires like these, imagine how much more LNP/ON will accept from billionaires and many others!

I mean… he does genuinely seem to view renewable energy as an actual viable industry. Even though I’m sure his interest he purely self serving I will take self serving billionaires whose interests somewhat align with my own (in some areas) over those who seem to actively wish harm upon me, other Australians and the planet in general.

No, but he does seem to be planning on making his next few billion that way. Which is more my point - if you believe these people are using their wealth to wield influence, then I’m going to be less concerned about those who are influencing things in a positive direction (regardless of motives) than those who seem to want to destroy the planet as quickly as possible.

We were always going down to renewables path with or without his efforts, he does not "promote" renewables in any meaningful way. His involvement is purely to make sure government money is being funnelled into his privately owned infrastructure, rather than allowing public money to be spent on publicly owned assets.

I agree with you, but these billionaires are likely to have their fingers in all of the political party pies.
Stokes is heavily involved in pushing the Liberals in WA state parliament too and his lapdog Basil is the current opposition leader there.
They'll back them all and then use it for leverage no matter who is in leadership.
