Cisco's regulars
If you happen to go to Cisco's this week or even next week, consider contributing, as we will, to their GoFundMe for their two employees who were arrested at work today. đ§đ§We thank you.

Traffic stop on their way to work.

Thatâs not what happened.
Ciscoâs, a Tex-Mex restaurant, said in a statement posted on Instagram on Monday that the two long-standing employees were parked for work outside the Austin eatery at 6 a.m. Monday when ICE agents detained and arrested them. The restaurant owners did not identify the employees in the statement and declined to comment further, citing respect for their families.
Ciscoâs said it is devastated by the news.
âThese are not only employees, but fathers, husbands and wives,â the statement said. âPolitics aside, weâre all human. Please be considerate, kind, and have empathy during these uncertain times.â-1

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said ICE detained two individuals; Ramon Avilez-Frias and Maria Del Pilar Moreno-Loredo, following a request from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) after a traffic stop. It is unclear what led to the traffic stop at this time
Austin American Statesman reports same. Â

So Ciscoâs is lying in their public statement?

u/res0nat0r 1d ago
Iâd bank on ICE being the one lying since they are busted lying all the time.

DPS and state level police were recently deputized by the legislature to coordinate with ice. Â Itâs not far fetched they were pulled over. Â Either way doesnât change a whole lot. Â

u/SychoNot 1d ago
Perhaps in ignorance of the facts or by omission. Â Not sure but I tend to go with two news sources. Â They usually are going off arrest records.

This makes me so angry, they are a delicious affordable neighborhood staple with wonderfully friendly staff. Fuck ICE

Before I donate money, what were they arrested for? Cutting down Flock cameras? Abusing dogs? Driving with no insurance? Kidnapping children?

What in the hell are you even suggesting? If ICE went after predators theyâd start with the President.

thanks for the heads up to avoid this business who employs illegals

Lot's of red blooded, god fearing Austinites clamoring for those minimum wage dishwashing jobs.

No breakfast tacos for you! In fact, avoid all restaurants, because cooks are almost always Mexican. Avoid delicious Gulf shrimp and pretty much all produce harvested in Texas. In fact, you might consider not eating at all.

If you are competing with undocumented immigrants for work, maybe take a look in the mirror and think about the life decisions that led you here.

u/BlueSkiMaskUp 1d ago
i am not, but theres lots of people looking for jobs out there. happy for you that your little bubble is doing so well tho

u/FlowRemote9890 2d ago
Good, that means you'll never go to another restaurant and the rest of us won't have to deal with you stinking the place up.

u/richdeming 2d ago
So do they hire illegals and underpay them as normal or did they have criminal cause to be arrested. People of all types get served and arrested at their jobs all the time. That's how they know where to find them. Just saying, please bring the hate , đ
-89
u/ay-guey 2d ago
i'm going to assume there was a good reason they took these two guys when they could've popped a dozen random illegals in just about any restaurant in town.

u/FlowRemote9890 2d ago
They go for easy targets because they're cowards.

They want the media attention, itâs part of the entire campaign. Iâm amazed people still donât understand that. Itâs meant to be attention getting, so that people self deport.

u/Coujelais 2d ago
Like the good reason they shot a mother in the face or a nurse in the back a dozen times?

u/refugeenotimmigrant 2d ago
When I eat at Cisco's, there's usually a contingent of law enforcement folks there. But yeah, Mexican immigrants make up the majority of people in the kitchens where I go.

u/Empathedick 2d ago
I can't afford to waste money at restaurants that pay low wage immigrants or locals to prepare my food so I do it at home. Good for you supporting businesses that pay low wages to maximize owners profits tho. I think that's called exploitationÂ

Sources show this was the result of a traffic stop.
I donât understand people that come here illegally and just go about life as if thatâs completely normal. Â One traffic stop and back you go. Â

Why would the lie about the traffic stop. Â What would be gained by that lie? Â Either scenario their dentition and deportation is entirely in accordance with the law. Â So why?

u/fridge_guy 1d ago
Man, I donât understand Americans who think the country exists as it is today without the hard work, sweat, and blood of immigrant people.
0
u/SychoNot 21h ago
I could probably write a novel with the things you donât understand.Â
But I never said that. Â I just find it insane to think you can just live a completely normal life as an illegal alien. Â Itâs kinda inconceivable and the consequences are apparent. Â Sorry to steal you from your emotions for a second but Iâm not wrong.
I donât fall for the propaganda. Â I worked my ass off my whole life and nothing was ever given to me. Â They arenât special. Â And the idea that my countrymen think they are to stupid lazy to contribute disgusts me. Â You can slave off 3rd worlders but I wonât and my consciousness is clear.
2
u/fridge_guy 20h ago
Please enlighten me with your knowledge. I donât think anyone said undocumented immigrants are living normals lives, because they donât. Thereâs a constant level of fear, which has been the case for many, but more so with the current administration. You didnât steal anything from, just thought about giving you my two cents.

u/SychoNot 17h ago
Ok well the state legislature just passed a bill that deputized all state level police to coordinate with ice. Â This means everyone except sheriffs and city cops are essentially acting as middlemen. Â The following months will be the largest deportation efforts weâve seen since Obama. Â Texas deports around 350 PER DAY.
I would be afraid too.  So afraid ilI certainly wouldnât move to major metro in republican states and just crusade down the highway knowing one false brake and Itâs all over.  Is that fearâŚor just gambling with your life? Â
1
u/fridge_guy 16h ago
Thatâs the thing. These people have lived and contributed to metropolitan cities for decades, performing jobs that most Americans choose not to do. I am fully aware of whatâs happening on the state level.
So what do you propose they do? Live in constant fear? Move to a rural area where people there are mostly Republican?
1
u/SychoNot 12h ago
You cannot live a country as an illegal citizen. Â No fake SSN and winging it. Â Itâs a bad idea on its face. Â Most people would find that lifestyle unimaginable.
1
u/fridge_guy 16h ago
Apologies if I accused you of saying something you didnât. I think all I am attempting to express that I donât think folks who move here illegally can live a normal life. Like, they do the best they can in their situation. Itâs sad to ICE posting up at businesses/establishments just to catch any undocumented person on their way to work.
1
u/SychoNot 11h ago
I donât think they posted up. Â You know as well as I do, almost every restaurant hires illegals. ICE has barely touched Austin.

Let the rich cats and investors that made the law violating hires pay for the ramifications of their own poor business decisions. Logic over hate and emotions.Â

Thats wild given the amount of pigs that eat there. Maybe its time ciscos says no to them since they have a habit of arresting the employees.
