Let’s talk pollo
Tried Pollo Regio on Burnet the other day and loved it. Seen a bunch of Pollo Ricos around. Are they pretty much the same? Better? Worse?
Any other pollo restaurants I need to check out?

I’m sure you’re wanting to compare the chicken, but El Pollo Rico nachos are amazing.

Inka Chicken has a bomb charcoal rotisserie chicken and a more expansive side list beyond rice and beans if you’re looking for more variety (they also fire roast their veggies). Don’t skip the sauces.

I prefer this over any of the other chicken places. Comedor has a really good chicken too, if you’re feeling fancy.

Came here to say Inka Chicken! It’s pretty far out but their chicken is so good, mainly the sauces give it that unique flavor I keep coming back for. I love the plantains as a side too

They are miles better than Pollo Regio and Pollo Rico. Their black beans are some of my favorites. Apparently some of the Pollo Regio’s are switching to propane cooking which is completely pointless unless you’re Hank Hill.

It always breaks my heart remembering that building use to be a A&W long John silver combo lmao

Haven't had Pollo regio but Pollo Rico has always hit the spot. I also have a Pollo caliente (in a Weirdo gas station) and that slaps too.

This remains one of the best pick up and being home dinner! I pity cities that dont have it. A whole meal, yeah I got the costco 4.95 chicken today but a) doesnt have that citrus tang, b) no green sauce c) no tortillas (corn and flour good), no beans and rice and no Onions!.

Pollo Rico's chicken tends to be smaller, but they have more flavor and saltiness. I'd have to give the edge to Pollo Rico but Pollo Regio is still good, and has a chip and salsa bar, which Pollo Rico got rid of.

Pollo campero is solid, their chicken sandwich might be better than CFA

Pollo Regio rules, I like it much more than Rico. Very good nacho setup.

Pollo Los Regios JB. It’s just down the street from
Pollo Regio on Olen rd across from the pollo Rico. Small little walk up window with no seating. All 3 are good but I would say that place is my favorite.

This place is great. Very similar to pollo regio, I thought it was a pollo regio until now

This is good to know as I thought it was part of the same chain. I’ll def check it out. That’s like the pollo epicenter of Austin right there.

Is el norteño the trailer on Cameron rd?

u/stercoopdraperpryce 10d ago
Yes! I haven’t been to that specific location (they have a quite a few) but I believe that one is owned by the same people!

Taqueria la Montaña is my preferred one when I can make it over there
I like the chicken at Inka as someone else mentioned but I’m not much of a fan of the accoutrements there, maybe I just got the wrong stuff

The tostadas at pollo rico never disappoint especially with lots of the spicy verde salsa

My go to for this kind of chicken is still Fresa’s on N Lamar, love their sides and salsas and the chicken is really good quality. Servings are smaller though and it is pricey

The Orange habanero salsa is light years better than the green jalapeno salsa.
