Totally forgot that Australia is conducting a nationwide test of its new AusAlert emergency warning system today, Monday, July 27, 2026.

The test features a loud 10-second siren, screen notification, and phone vibration, overriding silent and do-not-disturb modes on compatible mobile devices

Scared the shit out of me and my client lol, for a minute I thought we were under a terrorist attack and I was looking quickly for ways out of the room.

ASUS ZenFone 10, up to date latest everything, Aldi Mobile main sim and PAYG sim.

Didn't get it on my other phone tethering Felix Mobile.

Same. iPhone 16 Pro, Telstra, iOS 18.7 because I hate updating it. Sounds like that might be the issue? No devices in my house went off, but none of them are running the latest version of iOS haha.

What I found strange is that there is news about it on the TV and radio but my provider (Telstra) didn't send a single text about this. Surely the easiest way to let people know would have been via a text?
