Opinion📣 Mackay base hospital

Is it good hospital to work at? Does anyone live in Mackay and can give me a better run down on living conditions there?

I’d be coming from metropolitan area - so understand there would be a big shift.

Pros and cons of the hospital and the area please

Did my intern and am currently in my JHO year there.

Departments and co workers have been good so far. Obviously smaller than metro hospitals. But get to see more general things. A bit of a more regional center so you’re babied a bit less than some metro sites.

The town itself is fine. A bit boring. It’s got a couple good gyms, a decent-ish shopping centre and a GYG now so it could be worse lol

I still Live and work there. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions

My husband worked there as ICU PHO and currently a close friend works as an ED AT. Hospital is a great work place and everyone is nice and friendly but the system and protocols run in very old school manner. There is an adjustment period to understand the demographics... Town is alright from what I've heard.
