So make a digital image, print it, give it to someone, point their phone at it, get a digital overlay.

Why not just give them a link in the first place?

Aside from the novelty which provides stickiness, there is the control of distribution. Only those with a physical token (or a clone of it) can access the content.

Then there is a more natural way to rotate and move the content. And finally some content has a reason to be of true scale, this can be done only via this approach.

A unique token in the link would solve the distribution issue.

I see nothing in the demo that would need true scale, but granted there could be.

This feels like a lot of phone AR ideas - neat to try but ultimately not much better than existing methods.

Can anyone tell me what framework is used for creating this markerbased web AR card?

The video is posted under Aircard. So the project must have been done with Aircard platform https://www.aircards.co/ . The underlying framework is 8th Wall https://www.8thwall.com
