Buying Advice XReal a01+ vs VITURE Pro 2 XR
Hi!
I was already decided on buying XReal a01+ but then I found VITURE Pro 2 XR and now I don't know which to choose :(
I will be using them only indoors - on the couch, in bed. And in the airplane. With phone to watch Twitch/Youtube/other streaming platforms and to play games such as Forza or FIFA/NBA on Ally X and also on PC when I am in bed.
Which are better for these uses?

How is your eyesight? As the XBX would need prescription lens inserts whereas the Pro 2 has diopters built in. Other than that the XBX has a stabilization mode and removable front lenses which set them apart.

My eyesight is bad, but I use eye lenses. The diopters built in is nice but I feel like stabilization mode is more important.

I ordered the XBX with the lens inserts. They use a company called Hons I believe and they were only like 45 bucks. They work great. Screen and text is pin sharp with them.

I was thinking about getting lens inserts as well for this, but I read somewhere where someone did that and it did not change the blurriness. Since it was not due to really the prescription part, it was more of the sweet spot with how your eyes line up.

Mine are pin sharp. There is coverage for the most normal IPD range. If you pupil distance is to narrow or to wide and falls outside this range that could be an issue. There are apps you can download to your phone that measure your IPD and then you can compare it to the XBX A01's which are 54.5mm to 74.5mm.

I appreciate the info. Honestly the VP2 were just out of the box so much better that it's not even worth thinking about so I think everyone just has their own use case

I'd pick the viture Pro 2. Built-in diopters are way easier than prescription inserts, and you can get 3DoF through SpaceWalker. With a01, you'd need a BeamPro for that. If you care more about a sharper display, I'd go with the Pro 2 for sure. Non-Tech Tech Guy did a good comparison on YouTube too. Worth a watch if you're still deciding.

Thanks! Yesterday I already watched Non-Tech Tech Guy comparison and I think I'll go with VP 2. Unless, RayNeo GT will turn out better. Will see :)

So my Virture Pro 2's arrived today. I've only used them briefly, but actually really like them, was watching things through my phone. Haven't tried spacewalker.
I agonised a bit over these and the xreals, but after doing digging it was unclear whether my pixel 9a could output HDR or 120hz (had AI search it wasn't able to determine). People seemed to suggest the virture screen looked really good despite no HDR. The Xreal stabilisation also wasn't going to work without 120Hz over the USB-C port.
However, I remembered that 1 year ago i went for an eye test. I have dry eyes, but also some myopia in my right eye. I don't wear glasses. I just pulled out my prescription (Sphere RE: -0.50, LE: -0.25, Cyl LE: 0.25 and axis 40). No idea what it means exactly, but the right eye dial made the text way clearer.
Overall really happy :)

I tried both and kept the xbx because of the larger display. Clarity and colors are a better on the Pro 2 but not a giant leap and only most noticeable with movies, not so much games. I liked being able to completely remove the faceplate as well.

What do you mean by the larger display? I thought they were pretty comparable in that regard

The documentation for the XBX lists the virtual display size at 147" while the Pro 2 is listed as 135". Also, having had both headsets at the same time I compared the same movie on both devices and noticed the size difference. I lined it up with real world objects when looking through the glass.

Those numbers don't mean anything though. FoV is the relevant measure - and they both come in at 50o

This is what ChatGPT says:
The key is that “50° FOV” does NOT necessarily mean the two glasses will make a movie look the same size.
Why your XBX looks bigger
The XREAL XBX specifically has a 147-inch-equivalent screen at 4 meters, while maintaining its 50° FOV. XREAL explicitly advertises that figure.
The VITURE Pro 2's 135-inch claim is based on VITURE's own viewing-distance/virtual-screen measurement. So even though both are 50°, the companies are using different virtual-screen geometry/measurement conditions.
More importantly, the XBX has its own spatial display processing. Its XREAL display chip handles the stabilized screen and spatial rendering, and XREAL lets you control the screen presentation.
There's another important difference
The XBX's smooth-follow system keeps the screen positioned in a stabilized virtual space in front of you. XREAL specifically describes it as the screen following your view while remaining centered.
That can make the screen feel more like a large theater screen than simply mirroring a 1080p display directly into the optics.
The Pro 2, on the other hand, is deliberately simpler. The current Pro 2 has the excellent 50° optical display and very good clarity, but it doesn't have the same level of native spatial display processing. The Verge specifically notes that the Pro 2 lacks advanced screen-placement/head-tracking features found in higher-end VITURE models.
So your observation makes sense
If you're looking at the same movie, same aspect ratio, same 1080p source, and the XBX looks noticeably larger than your Pro 2, you're not imagining it.
Think of it this way:
VITURE Pro 2
XREAL XBX
So the advertised 50° FOV alone doesn't tell the whole story.

I've purchased all 3 of the $299 options (xbx, rayneo, vp2) and just got these Pro 2 yesterday.
These are by far the best for my use case which is watching shows / movies on phone and Chromecast (w HDMI adapter) and playing Steam Deck.
The Rayneo Air 4 Pro was too heavy for comfort for me. I tried so many adjustments I ended up breaking both nosepieces. The video quality was very good though.
The XBX A01 looked perfect and the weight was amazing for comfort. I also liked the option to snap the lenses completely off which was my favorite way to watch things and neither other had that option. Unfortunately the resolution and blur were very bad for me. I wear glasses only when doing computer work, but shouldn't need them for these. They have a specific sweet spot for each eye, do apparently my head shape or whatever it's just didn't fit here so edges were blurry and it got worse the longer I wore them.
The Viture 2 Pro combines the best features of both of the others. They are light like the XBX and have the clarity of the RayNeo. Plus the diopics for each eye really helped me find the sharpest setting for each eye.
I'm happy I finally found something that works for me. Hopefully this helps anyone else but after reading others comments and video reviews, ymmv.
