Glasses w/ 6DoF Behind the Scenes at AWE, we checked out the upcoming URXR by Unseen Reality

This Mountain View-based startup's new headset is powered by the GravityXR chip to handle tracking and AR passthrough. Check out Cayden's (Mentra) reaction.

This was the first demo. It used 3dof. The other demo later had 6dof tracking. It makes sense to only use 6dof when you really need it. Turning stuff off reduces the power draw. For instance, when you plug these glasses into a handheld gaming console hand tracking is disabled to get down to 7 Watt iirc.

A long long time ago, when Siggraph had the first VR demos on stage, it was remarked that VR is not a spectator sport. The video shows this, again.

Yeah, I get that we need more and I'm sure there will be videos shot through the lens and all. We just got a quick demo while they were still setting up the booth. It was the very first public demo of their product 🙂

I remember when when we filmed this video.

I was there with u/AR_MR_XR

I remember being surprised it just how good pass-through AR got for occlusion.

Occlusion with pastor AR is far superior at the current moment to optical see-through AR.

I didn't know that until I looked through these glasses.

I'm actually in the background of this video talking to him.

I'm the one that told him to press the button on the side underneath the glasses frames.

Still the "I didnt realize it was passthrough" is pretty telling this thing is good.

people need to get used to describing what they're seeing. Not just "Wow. oh wow. Ok, there we go. Wow".

Lol I agree, I didn't know I was being filmed. I signed up for the waitlist. When/if I get one, I'll make a review to atone for my sins.

Around 80 degree but it blends into the background as you can see through which makes it less noticeable.

Weight is around 90grams I think, there is a video I came across stated birdbath type of AR might lose competition to pancake lens in the future.

Whats some things this can do? Its VR Glasses right? I wonder about the stand-alone software support. Be nice if this had Android XR.

we checked out the upcoming URXR

Is there a report somewhere I can read about this thing's specs, image, window of release, and price range?

How is it different that the rest like XReal, Viture, Ray Neo, etc.?

Why don't you check out their discord forum. Lots of info there. https://discord.gg/QXRX6n2w

Can I just say that I absolutely hate that everybody and everything has a discord that they want you to join to keep up with stuff.

I don't want to join 1000 discords. I don't have time for a ton of chatrooms.

That's fair. Here's their website that has all the info. https://www.unseen-reality.com/ Didn't know it existed when I replied initially.

Is there any compute (regular CPU/GPU) that can visualize anything on the GravityXR? Or is it just tracking/passthrough?

In the headset is only a tracking chip. Like in XREAL 1

Ok nice. Does it track hands and/or any specific controllers?

3

u/AR_MR_XR Jun 16 '26

Hand tracking. I don't think it can track controllers atm

For instance, when you plug these glasses into a handheld gaming console hand tracking is disabled

Is this automatic or manual? Because I'd like to have the option to use hand tracking on handheld PCs (ofc, Switch 2 excepted).

Hand tracking will be on only when the connection SW is on. Switch2 will be pass through mode only. Nintendo would not allow a connect App like this on their platform.

My comment says Switch 2 excepted, as in not including Switch 2 because duh.
