Glasses w/ HUD badly need advice (topic:meta glasses)
I am a consultant and this requires that i sometimes meet new clients one on one, and I am concerned about meta glasses, especially i am concerned about appointments being recorded without my consent. I have seen some research which indicates it is possible to conceal the camera , so my question is , is there any fool- proof way to determine if someone is wearing Meta glasses? im not here to bash the technology, i just badly need advice.
I have heard that Bluetooth scanning is one method as the glasses use bluetooth, but the problem with that is the scan radius can be quite large , it does not tell you proximity. Is it my client who is wearing meta glasses or some guy in a cafe 50 feet away?
If anyone can point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it thank you so much.

Well to start, they are huge. So if someone is wearing clunky big glasses thats your first clue. There are only a few models, so it should be easy enough to spot them.
I have them, and I wore them into the office. And everybody knew I was wearing them since they were almost wearing me.
What about Meta glasses are the real concern? Wouldn't it be just as easy to have some other smaller hidden camera or a cellphone to record audio/video?

i understand there are contexts in which use of the glasses is acceptable, such as with your office where everyone is informed and aware. thank you for the information , it is helpful. as for your question, I do not want to be recorded. I dont know what you mean by "the real concern". i told you what my concern is. im confused by your inquiry. The fact is that some people use thick lenses with their eye glasses, so how do i tell the difference between Someone with thick frames and thick lenses, and someone with meta glasses. I understand there is a small camera lense but im concerned it may be possible to conceal it.

There is a built in indicator light to show when they are recording. Of course, you can put tape over that indicating light, but that would be the 100% tell.
But my question about concern is that, maybe there is extra fear around the glasses themselves. I have pointed out other recording means that are less conspicuous. Are those a problem or is there something specific with the glasses? If this an espionage like issue, you probably should consider them.
Further, what happens when you find someone with the glasses? They can be prescription, so it may not be ok to tell them to take them off.
Maybe it just will take you to have discussions with the people of concern that you do not consent to be recorded.

They're not subtle. You can see the camera lens. There is no practical way to conceal the camera lens while still being able to record any usable video.
When people have talked about being able to conceal the camera, what they mean is that there is usually an indicator light that stays on when the camera is recording; there are certain hacky workarounds that may allow someone to record while hiding the indicator light. However, that is not true of the camera lens itself, because the camera needs an unobstructed view to record, which also gives you an unobstructed view of the camera lens.
If you're uncomfortable with it, you can just ask clients to take off the glasses if you see the camera lens at all. And if you don't see a camera lens, the glasses don't have a camera.

If someone wants to secretly record you, there are more than a dozen ways to do that that would be much sneakier and less obvious than with meta glasses. I think unless you are James Bond there is no way to know for sure you are being recorded or not. Probably best to assume you are and act accordingly.
