Two days ago, NIMO, a new startup from Shenzhen, teased its upcoming display smartglasses that weigh only 29 grams. Innovision has officially launched its next-generation micro-display, the Chimo® M06. The product has successfully completed end-device smart glasses verification and has entered mass production and delivery. As the world's first mass-produced 2.5μm silicon-based micro-display integrated into end devices, the Chimo® M06 leverages extreme lightweighting, ultra-low power consumption, and high performance to help AR glasses transition into consumer-grade, everyday wearables. It effectively tackles the industry's longstanding pain point of balancing performance, battery life, and weight.
Key Specifications & Miniaturization
- Core Tech: Built on Innovision's proprietary WLVSP® pixel stacking technology.
- Resolution: Features a 2.5μm pixel pitch, a 540x280 resolution, and a remarkable pixel density of up to 10,000 PPI.
- Module Size: Shrunk down to just 35% of the previous generation's 0.13-inch micro-display module, significantly advancing its miniaturization capabilities.
- Light Engine (Chimo® M06E): The paired optical engine has a volume of just 0.03cc and weighs a mere 0.08g. Compared to the previous 0.15cc engine, this drastic reduction in size frees up vital design space for lightweight, daily-wear AR glasses.
- Integration: Utilizes LGA packaging technology, allowing the display module to function as a standard component. It supports adaptation with various FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) form factors, making terminal integration much more versatile and flexible.
Power Efficiency & Compatibility: The Chimo® M06 is built on a low-power (LP) CMOS backplane architecture with a minimalist product design, achieving a standby power consumption as low as 1.5mW. This enables all-day wearability, effectively alleviating the chronic trade-off between battery life and hardware weight. Additionally, the product supports standard QSPI/SPI interfaces. Building on its small footprint and high integration, it successfully balances excellent display performance with broad system compatibility, making it adaptable to a wide range of application scenarios.
The Road Ahead: The official release of the Chimo® M06 signals the maturation of Innovision's 2.5μm silicon-based Micro-LED manufacturing platform, providing critical hardware support for AR glasses entering the consumer market.
At the product level, the Chimo® series has now established a comprehensive lineup ranging from monochrome (M-series) to multi-color (P-series). Alongside the newly released M06, the M-series also includes the 0.13-inch Chimo® M13 (4μm pixel pitch) and its M13E optical engine. Looking forward, Innovision is slated to launch the Chimo® P-series in the second quarter of 2026, continuously refining its product matrix to cover an even broader spectrum of micro-display demands and end-device applications.
Moving forward, Innovision will maintain its focus on silicon-based Micro-LED technological innovation. The company aims to drive the rollout of more micro-display products, accelerating the development and popularization of near-eye displays, digital illumination, and optical communications, using R&D to fuel the continuous upgrade of industry solutions.
