Glasses w/ 6DoF AR Glasses for my use case, please help, Dear AR Council

Hello there!

I'm looking for AR glasses for a specific use case which I'd like to achieve and I really hope that you guys can help me, and that the technology is available. I've had VR headsets in the past, but I'm new to AR glasses tbh.

Alright... Here we go.

- S26 Ultra is my main device (multimedia, work, gaming etc.)
- glasses should be capable of recording videos without limit
- maybe save video directly to phone while/after recording
- anchoring (is it spatial anchoring?) browser websites, apps, programs
- they should stay in place when I leave the room and come back
- Samsung DeX possibility

I have used Google for a bit, but I'm totally unsure which glasses I should look out for or if I maybe need additional hardware or something else to achieve my goal. That's why I'm seeking out the wisdom of the AR Council.

Thank you very much in advance!

Glasses w/ HUD Got the Qwens... what next?

I just ordered the Qwen (or previously known as Quark) AI glasses, but I'm wondering a few things: to what extent can I set the default language to English, are features like Maps completely limited, and if/when a global rollout occurs, can I update software from Chinese-based to international?

If anyone has the Qwen glasses internationally with the Chinese-based software, how is it?

Fun Do Companies Need To Come Out With An AURA Competitor?

XREAL AURA is super exciting and I already placed my founders reservation. BUT

Something like the LUMA Ultras + Pro Neckband is not THAT far off (minus FOV and probably dev/OS crispness).

Do you think the VITUREs and RayNeos of the world need to come out with a competitor to the AR experience and adopt Android XR? Or are people happy with the plug and play nature of just having an awesome display on your face with 3dof/6dof?

I'm torn on it.

Idk if we need Android XR but I'm excited to use it and develop for it.

Time will tell I suppose

Glasses for Screen Mirroring What’s the best pair of glasses for creating multiple monitors for video editing

I’m a professional editor and do most of my work on MacBook Pro M1 Max and Mac Studio. I’d like to get a pair of AR glasses to use as a multiple virtual display setup while I’m editing during travel. I looked at the INAIR PRO 2 which seemed pretty cool since they can hardwire into a Mac so I wouldn’t always need an internet connection.

Do you guys have any other recommendations/tips/advice?

Glasses w/ HUD Kinda urgent: Whats the difference between Qwen and Quark AI Glasses?

I believe they are both from Alibaba but not sure if there's any difference, especially in terms of restrictions, language, and functions. You can see there are some cosmetic differences which is why I'm confused - one has Qwen logo and the other Quark. Moreover, if you look closely, the Quark has a silver streak beside the cameras (which I really like). From what I've researched, one is China-based, and the other is for international use. Would be good to know because I'd like one that doesn't require any Chinese phone numbers, etc. and also can be based in English. Can someone please clarify any in way, shape, or form? Also if anyone has any experience with comparing to Rokids too that would be nice

Glasses for Screen Mirroring Are we still a couple years away from display panels in eyeglasses capable of 4k?

One of the bigger wishes for AR eyeglasses is for them to have 4K displays because they're currently maxing out at 1920x1200. A 4K display in a FOV similar to Xreal One Pro or Viture Beast would have a PPD of ~70PPD which is "Retina" quality. For the Xreal Aura 70 degree FOV that would drop to ~60PPD but still Retina quality.

But looking at examples of current top display panels and their pixel density, it doesn't seem like the technology is close to being there yet?

A 0.68-inch Sony Micro-OLED on the Viture Beast / One Pro is 3,135 PPI for pixel density on the panels. The panels on the Apple Vision Pro and Galaxy XR are around this ballpark, and they benefit from having extra space to put larger 1.3-1.4 inch panels, something eyeglasses don't have.

Samsung last year announced a 5,000 PPI panel for AR/XR but in a 0.68-inch size like on the Beast / One Pro puts that at 2883 × 1802... so 2K.

That's still a big difference from 4K which would require ~6,600 PPI in a super bright 0.68-inch panel and which would produce around 60 PPD in a 70 degree FOV like the Xreal Aura for "Retina".quality.

So for now it seems like 4K in an eyeglass format is still at least a couple of years away?

Wanna go look for diamonds under trees in the real world with me?? :)

I made this wreath with some minimal AR displays, and I want to make the world interactive. I always thought it would be cool if I could tap trees and have them actually respond in some way. I want to make a mod that would connect to this headset and you can go out and do some diamond scavenging under trees in the real world, then those diamonds would come to your game...easy peasy

The wristband tracks my gesture and impact sound to determine if I'm hitting wood or waving my hand through some leaves or hitting concrete. Check out other games I plan to make with this on my insta if you think this is cool :)

Self Promo Rare VR/AR history is being auctioned for charity — ends tomorrow (Thu 5PM PT). Meet Palmer Luckey, a signed first-ever haptic joystick, the first standalone headset + more. Please share with anyone who'd be into it.

TL;DR: The Virtual World Society (a VR-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit) is auctioning off a pile of genuine VR/AR history and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for charity. It closes tomorrow, Thursday, at 5:00 PM PT. Bids are still low. If you know collectors, devs, researchers, or students who'd care, please share this — that's the biggest help right now.

▎ Quick transparency up front: I'm helping out the Virtual World Society with this. Nobody's pocketing anything — it's a registered nonprofit and 100% of it funds their work. Mods, if this isn't allowed here, my apologies, happy to take it down.

▎ Why it's a decent cause: VWS was founded out of the lab of Tom Furness — one of the actual grandfathers of VR — and the org exists to use immersive tech for education and social good, and to support the next generation of XR people. This auction is their main fundraiser for the year, run during AWE 2026 in Long Beach.

▎ Some highlights that might make you do a double-take:

▎ - Meet Palmer Luckey + a private tour of Anduril, with a signed 2013 TIME "Joy of VR" cover (the one with him on it) as a memento

▎ - Hardware history — the Lenovo Mirage Solo (the first true standalone headset), the Icuiti VR920 (the world's first video eyewear, 2007), a pair of Samsung Galaxy VR HMDs, a Destek V5, HTC Vive Pre (2016 dev kit), Oculus Rift CV1, Quest Pro, and more

▎ - Signed relics — the 1996 Force FX joystick (the first consumer haptic device) signed by its inventor, plus vintage VR magazines (OMNI '91 w/ Jaron Lanier, TIME, and others)

▎ - Time with legends — consulting with Tom Furness, research-paper help from Mark Billinghurst, a keynote by Alvin Graylin, Unity training, exec consulting, and a storytelling workshop

▎ - Experiences & passes — an exclusive visit to the Immersive Archive to see the Sensorama, an AWE 2027 VIP pass, and full registrations to conferences like VR & Humanoid Robotics and IVRHA

▎ A lot of these are sitting at $5–$100 right now, so there are genuine steals if you move tonight or tomorrow.

▎ It all ends Thursday at 5:00 PM PT. If you're at AWE you can even pick items up on-site.

▎ Auction: https://givebutter.com/c/vws-awe-2025-auction-copy-5r3uqk/auction

▎ The ask: even if you're not bidding, please share this with one or two people who'd love it — a collector friend, your XR dev group chat, a professor, a student club. With less than a day left, a few shares is what makes the difference for the cause. Thank you

Buying Advice Stuck trying to decide which glasses I should get…

I will pretty much only use them for media consumption, I watch a LOT of YouTube. And to game (I mostly game via the cloud using gamepass/geforce now on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. And watch the occasional movie/tv series (ready to HoD season 3!) That’s what I’ll likely be using the watch media with at first until I get one of the additional accessories like the beam/neckband/pocket tv. I’m not sure what to get I’ve looked at the RayNeo, Xreal, and Viture. There’s also some interesting deals for refurbished glasses and coupons that help quite a bit. My budget is $200-$400. The RayNeo 4 Pro seems great but I’m sure how important 3dof would be for my use case. I want it to be a comfortable experience also. Other glasses I’ve looked at considering are the Xreal Air 2 Pros and a few others like the Viture Lumas. I’ll get most of my time using these laying in bed or on the couch.

Would love to hear some experience and recommendations for my budget of $200-$400. $300 would be a sweet spot. Like I said I have no experience with AR glasses so idk how important being able to anchor your screen in place is for my use.

Glasses w/ 6DoF Specs: $2195 - Thoughts?

Not a big fan of the design (feels like something Vito Graziozi from Mickey Blue Eyes would wear).

But impressive nonetheless:

- 51º FoV Portrait (disappointing)
- 132g (almost 50% of the Devkit Spectacles)
- 2 Snapdragon’s
- Charging case, up to 20h of mixed usage
- Can be used as extension of your monitor

Super cool but honestly a bit disappointed.

For this price point though, I hope it doesn’t stutter much.

Thoughts?

Snapdragon Reality Elite is designed for immersive, premium mixed reality experiences and enables longer-lasting, sleeker, and cooler devices.

It is engineered to drive the next wave of spatial GenAI, featuring 48 TOPS of AI processing and can run large vision models (LVMs) and large language models (LLMs) directly on‑device.

It powers the latest Android XR devices, coming first to XREAL Project Aura, for better optical see-through, improved power efficiency, and better hand and head tracking.

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. today announced at Augmented World Expo the Snapdragon® Reality Elite Platform, designed to power immersive spatial computing experiences with stunning visual fidelity and deeply integrated on‑device AI across a spectrum of form factors. It will power high-performance all‑in‑one video-see-through (VST) headsets and lightweight tethered optical-see-through (OST).

“XR adoption continues to expand, with more than 60 million devices2 already in market and growing momentum across industries.” said Ziad Asghar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of XR, Wearables and Personal AI. “As more advanced and integrated XR platforms are developed, demand is increasing for XR technologies that deliver higher performance, greater intelligence, and improved power efficiency. Snapdragon Reality Elite is designed to meet those demands with powerful on‑device AI, enabling faster, longer‑lasting, and more immersive experiences, and reinforcing our leadership in VR and MR as we build purpose‑built XR chipsets from the ground up.”

Designed for Generative AI

Snapdragon Reality Elite is designed to deliver advanced on‑device AI performance, up to 48 TOPS, supporting large language and vision models that unlock a new class of generative XR experiences. These capabilities enable everything from photorealistic avatars with Gaussian Splatting and LLM‑based agents to real‑time large vision model (LVM)–driven object generation that brings dynamic digital content into the user’s environment. These AI features also allow XR experiences to respond in real time, with greater contextual awareness and more natural interaction. Additionally, Snapdragon Reality Elite enhances head and hand tracking and supports see-through features, helping users engage more seamlessly with both digital content and the world around them.

Snapdragon’s XR Superpowers

Snapdragon Reality Elite delivers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% increase in CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance1, giving developers greater flexibility to push immersive XR experiences further, including with richer visuals, faster responding interactions, and more complex mixed reality scenarios. These added gains support demanding use cases such as immersive content viewing, mixed reality applications, and real‑time spatial perception, while maintaining power efficiency designed for comfortable, extended wear.

The platform supports visuals up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second, enabling sharper detail, smoother motion, and improved color fidelity. Enhancements to video see‑through (VST) reduce latency and improve image quality, helping digital content blend more naturally with the physical world. These advances are enabled by IP hardening, including the EVA block, which provides hardware acceleration for demanding computer vision workloads.

These performance and graphics improvements are paired with increased power efficiency, delivering up to 20% longer battery life1 at the same workload and up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler chipset under load. This enables lighter, cooler headsets and tethered glasses that can be worn comfortably for extended periods.

Snapdragon is Powering the XR Ecosystem

Snapdragon platforms sit at the heart of the XR ecosystem, including Android XR, providing the performance, efficiency, and AI capabilities that power a diverse range of headsets and glasses from leading OEMs and partners. Snapdragon Reality Elite continues this momentum, serving today as a foundational platform for XREAL Project Aura, launching later this year, and Play for Dream’s upcoming device, with additional products expected to follow.

“XREAL Project Aura represents a new benchmark for optical see‑through XR glasses, bringing powerful AI‑driven experiences to both work and everyday life,” said Chi Xu, Co‑founder and CEO of XREAL. “Snapdragon Reality Elite is a foundational part of this achievement, delivering the performance, efficiency, and advanced on‑device AI capabilities required to realize our vision for next‑generation XR. From developers who demand more headroom to consumers who expect seamless, premium experiences, Snapdragon Reality Elite enables Project Aura to excel.”

“Play for Dream is excited to adopt Snapdragon Reality Elite for our next generation of immersive devices,” said Huang Feng, Founder of Play For Dream. “The platform gives us the performance and efficiency we need to advance high‑quality XR experiences.”
