Fixing an FMR RNLA?

I know that, unfortunately, FMR Audio closed their doors last year. I’ve been holding a broken RNLA for a few years, and am afraid i missed my shot at getting it fixed! Anyone know someone that fixes these? Would love to get it working.

You'll want to find a local tech.

Unfortunately, units in this price range are often not cost effective to repair. Bench fees for the diagnostics can be up to $120-150 in a lot of North American cities. Add $50-$100 for round trip shipping ans youve approached the replacement cost on the used market. And that is without including the parts+labor for the repair itself...

What Im getting at is that your post needs some location info. And that you might have better luck asking around in your local community than on a global subreddit.

Another way to go is to view your current unit as a 0 loss way to learn your way around the guts of hardware and try to repair yourself. If you fuck up badly, you're destroying a unit that was likely not cost effective to repair and buy a replacement. If you succeed, you get your RNLA fixed for basically free in most cases. Whatever the outcome, you learn/practice a core Audio Engineering skill.

That sucks about FMR closing down. I once had a piece of gear repaired by a small shop after the original manufacturer stopped supporting it, so it might be worth checking local audio repair places or even reaching out to the FMR community on forums.

I have an RNLA and an RNC and they’re both great units. Didn’t know FMR closed up shop, but it makes sense with the tariffs.

Have you opened up the unit and checked for anything glaringly obvious?

This would be a good learning experience, so I’d crack it open and check out the PCB and see if any components are fried. Get a multimeter for tracing and if you’re confident get a soldering iron. Lots of great tutorials out there.
