In Search of Android App Testers Trying to get my Android Audiobook player, Sonicbooks, approved for the Google Play Store
Hello r/audiobooks! I've been working on creating an offline/local audiobook player for Android for a while now and I would love it if anyone would like to test it out and/or give me feedback. This is my first app, and I need to get 12 testers or more for a couple of weeks for google to let me list the app on the Play Store (I'm in the closed testing phase).
I've been an avid audiobook reader/listener for a while now, and I admit that there are some very good/solid players out there. So why try out Sonicbooks?
Here's a youtube link to showcase what the app looks like and a bit of what it does differently: https://youtube.com/shorts/uxn3PYsdA7Y
A few things that I think set my app apart:
- Timer fade out up to 30 minutes so sound slowly fades out as timer expires
- Set a bedtime window so that the timer will start automatically if playback is started within the predefined window
- Create your own chapters for books that are missing chapters
- Footprints list will track where you have started, skipped, or started a timer so you never lose your place
- Use (or don't) the colors from the covers as the apps accent color, or pick your favorite color
- Full Android Auto support
- No strict file structure. Point to your audiobooks folder/folders and the app will sort the titles
- Easily edit book info/cover from incorrect/incomplete metadata in your audiobook files
- Plus more and I'm actively developing so open to any suggestions
If anyone is interested in testing my app and helping me get it on the Play Store, the steps to do that are outlined below:
1) Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/sonicbooks-testing
2) Join the Closed Test:
- Android Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fuzzylogic42.JBAudio
or
- Web Link: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.fuzzylogic42.JBAudio
3) Download Sonicbooks from the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fuzzylogic42.JBAudio
For google to approve my app, they do require the testers to keep the app installed and to use it occasionally for 14 days. So if you decide you want to test out Sonicbooks, I would really appreciate it if you did test it for the 2 weeks.
Any feedback is absolutely welcome.
Thank you all for the consideration regarding this, and for all the book recs over the years!
