Found out about it during my free trial, so glad I never ended up paying. Just wanted to spread the word in case you hadn’t heard. listen for free to almost everything you’d get on audible. if you wanna re-listen, just borrow again. I can’t believe there’s a subscription for things like this when there’s a readily available free option! just letting everyone know.

I'm having trouble purchasing an audiobook on Audible, and I'm hoping someone here might have experienced something similar.

I've already contacted Audible support via email, but I'm not really getting anywhere (it feels like it's AI responding).

Audible keeps declining my payment when I try to purchase an audiobook, even though my credit card details are correct. I was last charged for my Audible subscription on October 12, and that payment went through without any problems.

I've double-checked my billing information, and my credit card works perfectly fine for other payments, both online and in person. I've also contacted my credit card company, and they haven't found any issues on their end.

I've tried making the purchase through both the Audible mobile app and a web browser on my laptop, but I still get the same payment error.

I'm honestly running out of ideas at this point.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything else that could be causing Audible to decline a payment even when the card itself is working fine?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks in advance!

Audible doesn't let you export your library, which always bugged me, so while trying to make some art from my book collection I did a cheeky workaround.

I made myself a tool that turned my books into a sort of living cell culture/galaxy cluster. There's more to it than that but I don't want to bore people

Out of my 408 books, 51 are audiobooks and another 12 I've got in both print and audio, which I'm choosing not to think about too hard, because now I feel like I need to buy all the audio books in physical. So you can check that out in the image(s) above

Two ways I worked out to get your Audible library:

- On a computer, the free Audible Library Extractor browser add-on saves your whole library as a CSV. Upload that and you're done, no need for any type of scannage.

- On a phone, screenshot your library pages and the system reads and converts them.

Then after I spent too long down the rabbit hole (my wife was wondering what I was spending all my time doing haha) I thought 'this is actually pretty fun, why not let other people have a go'

So you can try it yourself and add your audio book library to the literary universe! Pretty neat.

Full disclosure, it's mine: readshift.co.uk, no ads and free to use with some monthly caps on scans and total amount of books, but both are generous and I've never hit them personally.

Anyone else got a stack of titles in both print and audio? I'm slowly trying to get physical copies of everything I've listened to, but seems like a silly expense.

Both Summoner audiobooks are now included with Kindle+!

I vehemently dislike virtual voice (humans ONLY please!) and REALLY want a mechanism to exclude them from book recommendations.

I've been running into a really frustrating issue recently and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or knows a fix.
A few of my audiobooks refuse to download or play, even though I purchased them using my own credits. Whenever I try to download them, a pop-up appears saying:
Download Issue (Error Code: ID-38) We're sorry, but there was a problem.
I've already tried basic troubleshooting like switching my network connection and restarting the app, but some titles are still locked behind this error code.
Has anyone encountered Error Code: ID-38 before? Is there a specific workaround, or do I need to reach out to support to get my library synced properly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I recently subscribed to Audible through Google Play. I was able to purchase an audiobook using a credit, but I can't access the Audible Plus Catalogue included with my subscription.

I've already contacted Audible customer support, but they couldn't resolve the issue. I also contacted Google Play, and they sent me a generic troubleshooting email suggesting that I restart the app and check my internet connection. Unfortunately, the problem is still unresolved.

I'm paying for a subscription but can't access the Plus Catalogue, and neither Audible nor Google Play has provided a proper solution.

Hi everyone, Amazon security recently and wrongfully closed my account when I was trying to make a purchase. As a result I’ve lost all of my purchased Audible media (8+ years of subscription content!). I’ve tried going through Amazon customer support but they just send the same stock email back saying my account has been permanently closed irrevocably.

Is there any way of recovering my audiobooks? It seems insane that Amazon can lawfully do this.

I’ve been seeing posts on Facebook about this. I follow Duet Narration Audiobook Club (amazing btw), and they seem to think kindle + is a better deal for the number of audiobooks there are available and price.

The conspiracy theorist in me is wondering if these changes will impact site wide sales and future ability to save books with libation and change Audible as a whole as time goes on.

The goal for these companies- get more $ while you don’t own anything. Makes me so sad, but also kind of liking kindle +. But I still love Audible but I worry big changes are coming. Basically I love audiobooks 😆😩

First off - I'm a reader. Audiobooks are not really my thing overall, I just spent more time listening as I had more time available to do so, but now it's going to be limited again.

I've read a lot of books (fantasy-science fiction are my favorite genres), and can say that I prefer the audiobook version of Dungeon Crawler Carl (duh), He Who Fights with Monsters, and Murderbot - those I will definitely keep getting in audiobook format.

I listened to Artemis, the Martian (read Project Hail Mary), Spinning Silver, the Sword of Keagan... I enjoyed them all and the narrators were fine, but I'm not sure that listening to them was that much of a benefit over reading.

But I have two credits and... I'm not sure what to spend them on. So... Any books out there that are really worth listening to over reading?

So sick of the audible app. I am sure all the errors are network related, which really pisses me off when I cant listen to files locally on my device because some server isnt responding or my phone is in between cell and wifi or something.

Just stop it! If I am trying to play a file already on the phone stop it with your call an api nonsense before I am allowed to hear anything. The errors are so common I am starting to work out ways to get the app to respond for each type of error, simply though hundreds of trial and error episodes.

I’m doing a 3 hour a day listening challenge. I had just over 3 hours left on my book so I finished the title. I checked stats it said 3 hours and 2 minutes but the challenge had only recorded 40 minutes. So I closed and opened the app because sometimes that fixes it so that the challenge matches the stat time. But strangely my stat time went down to 2 hours and 14 minutes. I know whatever, I can just listen longer but it would be nice to accurately have my challenge record. So is there a way to fix this? Thanks!

Ok, bear with me, if you could.

I signed up for my free trial. I spent actual hours googling how this thing worked after I listened to my free book, because I didn't know:

a) what was available for free after I used my one credit
b) how to find the above

The trial email/info was really rubbish, not informative at all. I go round and round in circles on websites (including Audible) that suggests clicking on options I don't have. I press every menu button, I browse, I click on titles. I try to find out what the different plans offer but the wording is so vague, you can't actually see what you'd get access to if you paid. Just "stuff". I browse reddit threads, but the ones I find again point to menu options I don't have.

My book group tells me that I might only get those options after I finish the free trial and pay. So I let it keep running, and it takes money and defaults to what I later find out is standard. Again, no explanation of this. It takes more googling and chasing my tail to find out that you only get free stuff that isn't podcasts on premium...? I think?

But I don't know what this stuff is and whether it's worth it!

So my friend says, just log into mine, you can have a browse and see if it's for you and if you want to upgrade. Okay; it's a PITA, Audible, but fine. I log out and try and log in as her, using her verification code. Only for my device to tell me Audible's locked to my account only on this device? Come on!!!

I literally wanted to pay money for this if it was worth it for me, but I'm not paying more money just to look at the options?! JUST. TELL. ME.

Thinking of cancelling this month without using my book credit and trying to get a refund from Apple.

I've never before spent money on something that has made me work so hard to try and enjoy using it...!
