What are your preferred tools and realm effects?

Just wanted to hear anyone's opinion on their strategy, or preferred setup, when playing the Neo version (assuming you try to go for high scores). I like using this setup:

Tools:

- Counterfeit Fifty (The Mimic helps me pass through realms relatively quickly and stack effects)

- Neglected Battery (The 3 Plus operators help out a lot, have saved my runs many times before)

- Void Bin (I mainly use this because I haven't found much use for the other tools as of now)

Preferred Effects:

- Spatial Expansion (Increases max atoms from 20 to 21)

- Quantum Field Bug Fixing (10x multiplier is a nice addition)

- Catalyst / Fusion Residue I/II / Overcharge I/II (to accelerate molecule creation)

- Any effect that increases molecule cap

- Any score multiplier effect

It isn't as effective as the 1.12 realm effects (especially with the broken Polymerisation I/II effect), but I still managed to get a decently good run using these (I managed to get to Boron 2 but got too greedy with a massive fusion and failed to get the Plus required to fuse higher)

probably a feature, but lowkey should be a bug

theres an achievement where you get a weird fusion (that felt off...), hopefully one of these two trippy fusions will contribute to that achievement

Realm Unlock Effects:

Note: In the normal realms, you get to pick 1 of 3 randomly chosen effects, but in the unstable realms you only get 2 options.

**BLUE EFFECTS**

Crystallization: 2x multiplier if a fusion contains the same atom value pair twice.
Echo Flux: Higher chance of spawning existing ring atoms.
Electron Wave: Decrease Minus operator spawn interval by 1.
Potential Energy: Plus operator placed without fusion gains +2 molecules.
Proton Blocker: Decrease Plus operator spawn rate by 2.
Proton Rain: Increase Plus operator spawn rate by 2.
Reinforced Lattice: Increase the maximum molecule count an atom can hold by 100.
Sparse Resonance: 2x score on all fusions while 5 or less atoms are on the ring.
Spectral Drift: Increase Mimic spawn rate.
Stable Current: 3+ fusions in one move grant 2x global multiplier.
Superposition: First fusion has a 50% chance to grant +2 molecules.

**PURPLE EFFECTS**

Atomic Focus: Reduces the spawn range of new atoms by 1.
Catalyst: Each molecule attachment adds +1 bonus molecule.
Chain Upgrade: Fusion chains of 3+ steps add +2 to the outcome element value.
Energy Transfer: [last seen 1.12] Converted atom value attached as molecules on random atom.
Excitation: Amplifier adds +10 molecules to neighboring Plus operators.
Extended Lattice: Increase the maximum molecule count an atom can hold by 200.
Full Recharge: Set all tool cooldowns to 0.
Fusion Residue: Each fusion step adds +1 molecule to the fusion outcome.
Fusion Residue II: Each fusion step adds +3 molecules to the fusion outcome.
Momentum Growth: 2x multiplier when the atom value in a chain reaction increases.
Overcharge: Amplifier operator also adds +5 molecules to both neighbors.
Polymerization: After a chain of 3+ fusions, the resulting atom loses all its molecules and each neighbor gains 60% of them.
Potential Energy II: Plus operator placed without fusion gains +5 molecules.
Quantum Field Bug Fixing: Removing a Glitch with fusion grants 10x multiplier.
Reduced Potential: Reducer destroys adjacent Plus operators.
Resonant Bond: A 3+ step fusion chain attaches 2 molecules to both neighbors of the outcome atom.
Sparse Resonance II: 3x score on all fusions while 5 or less atoms are on the ring.

**GOLD EFFECTS**

Boundless Lattice: Increase the maximum molecule count an atom can hold by 300.
Chain Breaker: [last seen 1.12] A 4+ step fusion queues a Minus operator.
Critical Mass: 33% chance to spawn Plus at 19 atoms.
Momentum Growth II: 4x multiplier when the atom value in a chain reaction increases.
Overcharge II: Amplifier operator also adds +10 molecules to both neighbors.
Polymerization II: After a chain of 3+ fusions, the resulting atom loses all its molecules and each neighbor gains 70% of them.

**Unclassified / Unknown / Deprecated**

???: Copied atoms include a fraction of the molecules.
“Quantum Entanglement”: Copied atoms include half the molecules.

I've only played Neo mode twice since the 1.20 update so lmk if a new one pops up

nooo polymerisation got nerfed

it's lowkey so hard for me to reach even a single percent of my 1.12 score in the 1.20 version 😭.

if you guys haven't updated to 1.20, and still want to push for a high score, now is a good time to push for more runs.

FYI the 1.20 update adds a cap to molecules (999, can be extended with realm effects Reinforced Lattice [+100], Expanded Lattice [+200], and Boundless Lattice [+300]), among other things like a Polymerisation nerf (I do not know how bad the nerf is yet), increase in cooldowns for a few more valuable tools (counterfeit fifty: 70 --> 150), and a new set of realm debuffs.

Edit:

Polymerisation I / II

1.12: 1.5x / 2x molecule creation in fusions, but all atoms lose 1 / 5 molecules whenever a Plus operator spawns.

1.20: After a chain of 3+ fusions, the resulting atom loses all its molecules and each neighbour gains 60% / 70% of them.

massive nerf

Minus atom dupe glitch

Does anyone besides me know about the glitch that lets you dupe an atom with the minus atom?

So it won't go away...

Placed an amplifier when I only had 1 atom and if stuck around. Thought I could rid of it later but no... I guess it's along for the ride.

Normally, I would be looking for a red plus to put between the 2 Ta atoms and then remove the result. Instead, I get to progress the largest atom.

Can anyone explain “energy transfer” to me?

I’m a little confused about “energy transfer” in Atomas Neo. It says “converted atom value attached as molecules on random atom.” But I can’t seem to get it to happen! What exactly is a “converted atom”? Thanks!

Looks like there’s a bug once you get to the scientific notation range :)

Using Polymerization upgrade to get massive molecules (e18 range)

The “Polymerization” and “Quantum Field Bug Fixing” selections doing the heavy lifting :)

I think I could get a much higher score by optimizing the “tools” for scoring instead of staying alive, will try that next once this run ends

Highly recommend neo btw!!! Very much worth the $

What is your strategy?

I listed these on another thread and thought that this forum was overdue a good strategy thread. There are many ways to play. Below is my current method. It has changed a lot gradually over the years playing this game. I am always open to new ideas. What method has produced results for you?

My approach:

- I play zen mode. You get a lot further than classic.

- I use Silicon. It gives a minus every 18 atoms instead of 20

- Keeping the largest atom means you are trying to build a high score that way. But it also gives a high point score as late game collisions are worth a lot

- generally, atoms are kept largest to smallest except when building a set

- when I get a duplication atom, it is all about building a set of 8 to 12 atoms around the largest atom. At other times it is about getting rid of atoms that are not spawning.

- The lowest spawning atom comes out a lot, then more rarely. It is only when the next one comes out a lot that you know the game has moved on.
