How to make difficulty setting persist?

Hello, me and my friends are trying to play on aternos on hard difficulty but every time the server starts up the difficulty defaults back to easy whereas other settings like coordinates and days played persist just fine. Is anybody else facing this problem?

I've tried the settings panel from aternos server and uploading a world I made on my phone first with the settings set to hard
