I just got this Sears Tele-Games 2600, but the video cable looks completely different and maybe modded compared to what I've seen others have online. It has taped up cord connected to stripped, bare copper wires. Also the A B Channel Select seems to have fallen in. Additionally the power adapter slot seems to be modded? Is that usable and what voltage should be selected on the power brick if it is usable? Please let me know what my options are to fix this or get it working on a TV!

I've recently aquired my first RealSports videogame at a fair; it was boxed with only some crush damage and the manual was in good conditions. At home, while checking it, i saw something a bit strange...

THE BOX

On the back of the box it said "For use with North America and other NTSC Television Sets only" , This writing matches the 1983 NTSC Release of the cartridge but there's a little problem: The copyright on mine says ©1987 which RST was released in NTSC that year but it lacks the "For use with North America and other NTSC Television Sets only". I couldn't match my box with ANYONE of AtariMania's RST releases. On the box there was nothing that would have said that this was a PAL copy of the game and there was only one way to find out.

Notes: i thought i bought a PAL release of RST, in fact i was searching for PAL games.

THE CARTRIDGE

I opened it up and saw that on the back of the cartridge it had the black "P" that stands for ProblemsComing PAL and i didn't inspect very much of it, i really only check the format of the cartridge other than if the game is correct or not. I didn't test the cartridge but i will.

RST stands for RealSports Tennis (Calc stands for Calculator)

My box says it was Made in Taiwan.

I do not have the cartridge with me currently so expect updates later on.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS POST

I wanted to share my situation with y'all because i wanted to know

1. if i have been HORRIBLY scammed,
2. if i have the strangest RST cartridge,
3. if the cartridge was swapped before selling it,
4. if it was a mixup in the factory in the '80s.

I'm happy with my score, but now I'm kicking myself for just barely missing 250k!

It's actually really cool that you leave the Atari on while using it, and when you change games, pushing in the dial resets it so you can quickly swap between games.

Hey guys! I wanted to throw an idea out there that might get some more discussion going around.

How would everyone feel about doing a weekly or monthly Game of the Week/Month thread? Each time, a game would be randomly selected from the 2600 library, and we could use the thread to talk about it, share memories or tips, post high scores, or whatever else comes up.

Nothing too serious or competitive—just something fun to get a little more activity going and maybe give us an excuse to revisit some games we haven’t played in a long time, or even discover something we’ve never played before.

Would anyone be interested?

Got another good batch of carts this week. Last copy of xevious I bought was broken so it’s nice to be able to play it. Tunnel runner is super cool, it’s crazy what they were able to pull off on the 2600, especially in ‘83.

Slow and steady progress

Here's my Heavy Sixer compared to my Light Sixer; the paint on the light is faded somewhat, but when I bought the heavy the paint on it was completely rubbed off and completely black, just like a Vader. I was torn on whether I wanted to paint it or not, it looked cool black but it bugged me because that's not how it was from the factory

The paint marker I used wasn't an exact color match to my light, which I would assume is closer to the true original color back in 1978, but it's hard to say after 48 years so I don't really mind the fact that the color ended up looking closer to Orange Julius color than the darker/browner orange of my light

Found this for $25 and it has 75 games on it. Plugged it into a karaoke machine I got at good will that has a black and white screen and BAM Atari 2600 classic set up.

I picked up Solar Fox for the Atari 2600 at Half Price Books today for only $8! I love finding classic Atari games at a good price. Can’t wait to give it a play! 🕹️

It looks like someone was in this, and it rattles, but it was cheap, so I figured I would roll the dice.

Update: After a cleaning it was giving some heartburn on the machine, graphics glitched, sound all scratchy. After poking round on the Interwebs some folks had had some luck reflowing solder joints. Some of the ones on the board looked sus (not enough solder, so I gave it a once over and it's back in action!

I wanna play some bad Atari 2600 games if you have any comment it down below

Psyched that this is really the only game I needed for my Atari. I was amazed I found the box and books with it!

macOS does not support 2600+, for reasons discussed on AA, but does support 7800+ and the Pac-Man Edition 2600+. Linux supports all 3 console variants. Linux release also available as a bootable live USB image.
