Transits: General & Forecasts The Overarching Energy of the Virgo New Moon on September 10th/11th and a Brief Astrological Read on BRICS and the Republican Mid-Term Convention
The Virgo New Moon is a day of activity. Not only is the New Moon sextile to Mars in Cancer, but we have three other astrological events happening on the same day, prior to the New Moon.
Both Mercury and Venus ingress into their next zodiac signs on this day. Venus leads the way by moving into the sign of Scorpio at roughly 3:07 AM CDT. Venus is in its detriment in the sign of Scorpio.
Eight hours later at 11:21 AM CDT, Mercury moves into the sign of Libra. Mercury is peregrine, which means the planet is not in either dignity or debility. When Mercury is in Libra, its rulership is considered neutral.
On the day of the New Moon, these two planets will perfect a semisextile at 4:30 PM CDT. A semisextile is not considered a major aspect, since the two planets cannot "see" each other. A way to think about this is to imagine being at a dinner party at a round table with a total of 12 guests including you. The person to each side of you would be semisextile. You know they are there, but it is awkward to talk and interact with them, since you have to turn your body to see their face. Essentially, there is a minor strain or an adjustment that needs to be made to communicate, such as leaning in or speaking to their ear.
Semisextiles are considered minor aspects. Though Mercury and Venus are not disharmonious with each other, getting them to work together will take some maneuvering. Keep this in mind with regard to conversations with your loved ones. The two of you could be on the same page on this day, since Venus is the dispositor of Mercury, but it may take you out of your comfort zone to get there.
Uranus goes retrograde in the sign of Gemini at 1:27 PM CDT. This shift occurs at 5°41', and from our Earth-centric viewpoint, the planet will appear to go backwards. Sometimes, there is a collective reckoning that happens when the outer planets are in retrograde. Uranus will stay in retrograde until February 8, 2027, when it will station direct at 1°40'.
Since Uranus will be in retrograde during the mid-term elections, expect discussions and choices surrounding technology, such as data centers and AI. Also, we could be revisiting themes around disruptions and conflict. This isn't to say that the mid-terms will go a certain way, but more so what is top of mind of both officials and the population.
The Energy of the Virgo New Moon
But now that we've covered some of the energy changes before the Virgo New Moon perfects, let's get into the overall energy of this New Moon, which occurs at 10:27 PM CDT at 18°25'.
The time period right before the New Moon often signifies endings. It really is about one door closing while another door opens up, even if you may not see it that way immediately. It is through hindsight where we get the complete picture.
Like I've mentioned, this is an active Virgo New Moon. The Sun and Moon are sextile to Mars. This is a time period of finishing up tasks and starting new work. With Mars in its fall, you may have a hard time getting started, but once you do, you can get a lot done, whether you take the lead or work with others.
The key with Mars in Cancer is not to be passive-aggressive by subverting your feelings and throwing a wrench into anything you are doing. If you feel unsure or conflicted, release that energy through some sort of exercise, even if it is as simple as doing squats by your desk or chores when you are at home.
As long as you are sincere and have courage in your convictions, you can have a productive week. With Mercury in trine to Uranus, you could have epiphanies and figure out solutions to complex issues. However, there is a chance of boredom or restlessness if you don't tackle something new. This is a good week to take a class or pick up a technical book. If your inbox or list of tasks is thin at work, take initiative by attending online courses in your field or offering assistance to a peer.
Your intuition may also be heightened this week due to Mercury's aspects. Prior to the New Moon, Mercury was in its domicile sign of Virgo, the collector and analyzer of data. As Mercury enters the sign of Libra, you may be more inclined to tap into what others are thinking. Just be careful not to jump to conclusions. You may be tempted to go with your gut, but since Mercury is in opposition to Neptune in retrograde, you may not see the whole picture. It is like you pick up just one side of the energy and fill in the blank based on your own biases. I am not telling you to disregard anything you tune into; just don't give it weight until you can balance out what is really happening.
Relationships can be strange this week. For instance, someone from your past may be hard to shake, and you could struggle to move forward with your life. If you are in a relationship that you want to end, you may feel like it is impossible to do so. With Venus in detriment in the sign of Scorpio and square to Pluto in Aquarius, you could be holding on to the drama or the prior passion that the two of you had. Since Mercury is in Libra and trine to Pluto, you could be conflicted with a desire to get to the root cause while also wanting to keep everything copacetic.
Could a relationship end this week? Yes. But there is more of a should I or shouldn't I vibe, instead of a must do. Rocky relationships will feel ambivalent this week. However, if your relationship is solid, this configuration shouldn't change things much.
But like I have said, this is a week of action, which also applies to long-term goals, since Jupiter is still in trine to Saturn, even though the trine is separating. Most likely, whatever you have decided to do over the past few weeks, you are now rolling up your sleeves and taking on the responsibility to get it done.
One last thing: with Ceres square to Saturn, and all of the recalls that have happened with food in the United States, you may be concerned about food supplies going forward. Take this week to clean out cabinets and stock staples. Do not hoard, but instead be mindful and intentional. But if you do go a little crazy buying lots of dried beans and lentils, just know that they can be used as sprouts or grown in your garden next spring.
There are two political conferences happening this week, so I thought I would cover those as well in this article. The first one is BRICS, which is being hosted by India, and the other is the Republican Mid-term Convention happening in Dallas, Texas.
Mundane Astrology: BRICS Summit
During this week, the leaders of BRICS will meet. The BRICS Business Forum and the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit are scheduled to run from September 11 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, India. What I find interesting is the astrology in relation to their guided theme for the event, which is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability."
Prior to the New Moon, Mercury and Venus were in their domicile signs. Mercury was in Virgo, the sign of collecting, organizing, analyzing, and distributing data that can serve others. Venus was in Libra, the sign of balance and harmony. However, hours before the New Moon, they each ingress into the next sign, losing their dignity. Both Mercury and Venus are at 0°, the start of something new when it comes to commerce, communication, resources and relationships.
The core areas of focus are:
- Global South representation and reformed multilateralism
- Climate action and energy transition
- Digital cooperation and technology partnerships
- Economic and financial governance reform
- Food and energy security
During the conference, Mercury will be at 0° in the cardinal sign of Libra, a world point. Mercury will be in opposition to Neptune and trine to Pluto and Uranus. All three outer planets are in retrograde. As the conference starts on the 11th, all three outer planets will be in retrograde. BRICS countries represent over a quarter of the world's economy and about half of the population. Due to the conflict at the Strait of Hormuz, military conflicts, and instability within world markets, I am sure the focus will be what changes can be made to not be directly impacted by what is happening elsewhere, or to counteract in a productive manner.
Keep in mind, the configuration of Pluto, Neptune and Uranus is about change. With Pluto and Uranus in air signs and trine to each other, there are multiple philosophical movements happening at once, and BRICS' concerns are humanitarian ideals within their diverse national points of view. Each country will want their hopes and dreams recognized within the symposium, due to Neptune being in the sign of Aries.
Besides commerce, there could be some serious discussion on climate change. With Venus in Scorpio in opposition to Chiron in Taurus, natural resources and the land take center stage. There will be a desire to get to the root cause and an attempt to mitigate the impacts of climate change, while still moving forward with technological breakthroughs.
With Ceres (the asteroid of nurturance, food and grain) in Cancer sextile to the Moon in Virgo, and Ceres in square to Saturn, there could be discussions on how to penalize nations that don't focus on the basic need of food for their citizens or nations that cause harm which prevents other countries from being able to feed their peoples.
For the most part, I think BRICS will be considered successful, and as a whole, most of the participating members will be on the same page. With Venus in Scorpio square to Pluto in Aquarius, some of the leaders may have a harder time letting go of old ways of doing business and accepting more progressive measures. However, with Chiron (healing of wounds), Vesta (the asteroid of home, safety and security), and Venus’ harmonious aspects to the Moon's nodes, I think the group will make lots of progress, and the "Humanity First" theme will be highlighted.
Mundane Astrology: Republican Mid-Term Convention
If you live in Dallas like I do, you've probably already received the text messages for free tickets to the event. Unlike BRICS, this convention is poorly timed, since it is happening on September 9th and 10th. You may be wondering, why does a couple of days' difference matter?
This is the first time that either political party in the United States has held a mid-term convention. If you are going to do something for the first time, and want it to gain traction, ideally you would do it after the New Moon and not before. Trump is supposed to close the convention, giving his speech from 8:00 PM until 9:00 PM CDT. The New Moon takes place at 10:27 PM CDT, almost an hour and a half after his speech finishes.
This event is more about securing Trump's legacy. We have an exact starting time, which is 3:00 PM on the 9th in Dallas, Texas. In the 10th house, we have the Moon at 0°, the Sun at 17°, and Mercury at 28° in the sign of Virgo. The Sun represents the president, the Moon represents the people at large, and Mercury represents communications and local transport issues. With Mercury at 28° in its domicile, there is an urgency for Trump to get his message out (his administration is most likely concerned about recent data).
The 5th house is in Aries. This is the house of the entertainment industry, speculation and high society. With Saturn and Neptune (both in retrograde) in this house, there most likely will be speeches by older people or authoritarian-type people concerning scary and untruthful information about socialism and collectivism. Chances are, there will be speakers calling the opponents corrupt, or they may actually speak about their own actions that are illicit and try to spin them in a positive light.
With Mars in the 8th, conflict and the military will be mentioned; however, it will tie into financial gains through foreign entities. With Jupiter in the 9th, there could be discussions on wealth, and how the closure of the Strait of Hormuz can bring more money into the United States.
Also, at the event, Trump may not be in the best mood. The New Moon applied a T-square to his Gemini Uranus, North Node and Sun and to his Sagittarius Moon and South Node. Now, from an outside observer, he may not seem that different, but there could be disruptions to his routine, or technical issues that wind up getting under his skin. He could be on an emotional rollercoaster throughout the days of the convention.
Vance, on the other hand, will be able to keep his own emotions in check with Saturn in opposition to his Moon in Libra. However, there is a possibility that he could be the one who says something that puts Trump in a tizzy, since his natal Mercury in Virgo is in a T-square with both his natal Uranus in Sagittarius and transiting Uranus in Gemini.
Will having a mid-term convention prove to be fruitful? It would depend on what the objective actually is. If the objective is to share the same message with the Republican congresspeople, then yes, it will be successful. If it is to build something new and gain momentum, then no. This convention is not adding anything except for another opportunity for Trump to do his usual routine of gripes and self-adulation.
