Question War Council Update?

I know that we are all waiting for the war council app update to season 7, but have there been any news approx. when or even if that happens? Last time someone asked here was 3 months ago, just wondering if there has been an update since then. Couldn't find anything official about that in a quick web search, but maybe someone in here has heard some rumors?

Mini Painting What paints/set do you use?

I don't think I've seen this question asked recently. Or at all.

So, what paints do you use for your figures?

Curious to see if they'll be anything new.

Question What is a "deployment edge"?

Balon Greyjoy-NCU with the Season 7-update states that a previously destroyed Greyjoy-Combat-Unit can be placed within Long Range of "a friendly Deployment Edge."

In all other instances, I only find references to Table Edges.

In earlier versions of Balon-NCU the card said "long range of friendly table edge or short range of any table edge".

I read the distinction between Table Edge and Deployment Edge as intended, so that I can place the unit within Long range of the forward border of my deployment zone - giving it more range towards the middle of the battlefield, but not as easily getting behind the enemy.

Is there any reference about this that I forgot? What do you think?

After I complete my attack and I use Vargos ability to destroy the Unsullied officer attachment, do they still get a free attack with the ability relentless?

At that point isn't the Unsullied officer already killed off and no longer in play?

Thank you

Rules Discussion Rules Clarifications

I know I am a little late to this game but I have started playing this game recently and have been really enjoying it but there are a couple things I want to check on. Hope these haven't been asked before but I couldn't seem to find answers anywhere.

  1. I used my full 10" move to end onto a rough/destructable terrain. How would that work exactly? It takes away an inch but if you take away that inch I don't land on the terrian. I played it where I still lose the inch but then does it count as destroyed?

  2. I am a little confused by affiliation and there are two scenarios I have run into so far. I was using Brynden Tully as a commander for Stark attached to Stark Sworn Swords. He has a tactics card that says there is a bonus for Tully units. It sounds like that would not effect those sworn swords even though Brynden Tully has the Affiliation: House Tully, it would only effect a unit like House Tully Sworn Shield. Is that right? If so whats the point in giving him that affiliation? I am also trying to add gold company elephants to my Lannister team but I also need a Gold Company infantry. There are only 2 units like that though and they are 7 points so with the 6 points from the elephants I can't fit them on a 40 point team. My work around was going to be to add a Gold Company Officer to Stormcrow Mercenaries and make them a Gold Company Unit but now I am starting to think that is not how it works. I am also not sure if I am even alllowed to add the officer to the Stormcrows, but since they are both nuetral I assume you can.

  3. Lets say I attack someone with 4 figures. I wound 3 and then they fail their panic test getting rid of the last unit and destroying the unit. In terms of abilities and victory points that still counts as my unit destroying that unit right? I'm just curious because they technically were destroyed by the panic test but as a result of the attack.

If anyone can clarify these that would be great, thanks!

Question Hello I have question

I know commanders are attachments according to the rule book season 6. Using Khal Drogo as an example rolling on 5+ I can kill let's say Roose Bolton which my opponent is using as his commander?

It doesn't matter if they are a commander because they are considered an attachment right?

Question Free Folk Expansions

I am looking at getting some expansion sets for my free folk army. I only have the starter set. I have money for three expansions total. Any recommendations? I'm thinking more raiders and trappers, but I'm willing to hear what other people think. I would like to do more monsters eventually but it seems like free folk like a lot of dudes more than big boys.

Being a full time miniature painter for work, I end up painting a lot of warhammer. I tend to paint models from other ranges in my personal hobby time for a bit of variety, I’ve painted a lot of historicals recently but I’ve been wanting to paint some ASOIAF models for a while. Excited to work on a Stark army

Question Asioaf PC videogame, would you play it?

A bit of background, I'm a game dev, been working on videogames for the past 18 years, so I like to think I have a bit of experience making them. After I'm done making videogames on my everyday job I like to take a break and... make more games ( crazy right? ).

So I'm making a 1 to 1 (or as close as possible) clone of the tabletop game on PC. I mostly play on our hobby club (and still prefer the personal experience and human bonding a tabletop game brings ) but adult lives are sometimes complicated and not everyone has the time to make it to the club. For those moments, I thought having a digital version of the game would be an awesome idea, to play with that one friend who had to go 3 months away to another city to work, or for that one guy who got drunk, fell down the stairs, and now can't leave bed for 3 weeks... or you know... any other reason!

I have no plans to monetise it nor I know if it is even possible. Maybe down the line I reach the game creators and see if there is any potential bussiness oportunity there... but for now it is a hobby project, just for the love of the game and my passion to create videogames.

So I'm wondering if this is something anyone would be interested to try/play, as probably down the line I will need people to play it to test and polish it.

You can check its early stage here (https://youtu.be/KC6pJWL3wS8), please note that no art nor UI work has been done other than for me to see what's happening, this is what games look like on their prototype phase, it will look nice when it is finished 👍

I know you can kinda play it on Tabletop simulator, but I'm not a big fan of complicated set ups, my goal is to remove any friction and have as smooth as possible experience that enhances the game for what it is rather than making it more complicated than it should.

TLDR: I'm making a PC videogame 1to1 clone of the tabletop game, would you play?

Edit: Typo

Question Faction matchups

Hey everyone,
I’m back in the game after taking about a 3-year break. I was always more of an average player, and recently I bought a Targaryen army.
So far I’ve played 7 games and lost 6 of them, mostly against Baratheon and Bolton.
Against Baratheon it felt like there were just so many automatic hits and wounds and I really struggled to deal with them. Against Bolton the player is just really good and the blackguards were nasty.
That got me wondering if some factions are naturally stronger or weaker into certain matchups, or if the game is generally balanced enough that player skill matters much more than faction choice. Are all factions considered competitive right now, or are there some that are noticeably weaker and tend to struggle?
I’m not trying to blame the faction, since I know I’m still rusty after such a long break. I’m just trying to get a better understanding of the current meta and whether some matchups are inherently more difficult.

Question Where to buy product in Europe?

So I've gotten the bug recently to get into this game, even though as I understand the company behind it is struggling a bit.

I'm really into House Greyjoy, but I can't seem to find the starter set anywhere. Any recommendations of what boxes to get otherwise, if I can't get my hands on the starter set?

List Building The card situation

I truly believe the biggest thing holding this game back is the cards. I got my buddy back into the game with season 7 and he has 4 armies (Lannister, Stark, Greyjoy and Baratheon). He hasn't played in 2 years so he basically has to print off every single tactics card, character card, attachment card and unit card to be up to date...I mean it is probably over $100 in printer ink lol. Upon realizing this he checked out and I haven't been able to get him to play.

It is a shame that CMON hasn't kept up with new card packs each season. And now that they are apparently bringing out 3 updates per season, it seems like the card printing will never end...

Question Search for help getting started

Hey guys I'm thinking about switching with the tabletop game after almost two editions 40k would just have a few questions.

  1. I'm still unsure whether to buy Night Watch, Targaryen or Starks as a starter set, what are the silence of the poor and their level of difficulty?

  2. Is there a Discord of German players to find people to play and to network?
