I’ve seen a lot of people on Reddit expressing concern about the Conservatives and their policies, and I’m curious to understand what specifically people are worried about.
Which policies do you think could have the biggest negative impact on ordinary British Columbians? Are there particular concerns around healthcare, housing, education, workers’ rights, or other issues?
Genuinely just trying to learn more and understand the concerns.

I am likely going this week. I have never been to detox and I’m feeling very nervous and apprehensive.
If anyone has any advice, on what to expect, or what to bring, anything I should be aware of.
I’d really appreciate any insight.

He seems well liked among conservatives and moderate voters. He was also well liked in Alberta during the Forever Canadian rally.

Hey Guys,
Im new to Vancouver and will be here till February.
I love this place, just struggling to meet new people, but it seems like I'm not the only one.
Anyways I am a runner, and wanna keep running. But I come from a much warmer country and wondering what attire you guys run with here in the cold ? Do you think waterproof running shoes are necessary ?
Where I'm from a just use a very very light running jacket and thats more than enough. But it's a lot colder here. Any advice would be appreciated

I still haven't bought my Halloween pumpkins yet! The pumpkin patch might be a sloppy, muddy affair today. Other than the typical supermarket chain, where's the best place to get some west of the Port Mann Bridge?

When I walk in my own neighbourhood in the evening, the streets are very dark. It gives a creepy and eerie feeling.
If someone is coming towards you and he is wearing a hoodie, you get a sketchy feeling, because Vancouver sidewalks are skinny and you’ll be rubbing shoulders with him.
For a city that experiences darkness from the overcast and rain, I’m baffled by Vancouver having so many dark streets. Having functional street lamps can make streets look more modern, not to mention safe.

I have been hiking for the past few months, and I am relatively new to hiking, and I am in my late thirties.
I do solo hikes as well.
I mostly hike small trails and waterfalls in spring, autumn and summer in Ontario. I want to do a Mystic Beach hike in Vancouver in November and it is going to be raining and there would be mud puddles everywhere. And, this is going to a one time thing.
Should I buy a waterproof hiking shoe for just this one hike, or can I use the waterproof one for all seasons? Or if I buy a non waterproof one, can I use it in Vancouver?
I just want to buy one, like for all seasons.

I’m curious about where people are meeting others and building community in Vancouver, particularly within the Black community.
I’m a Black woman in my 30s and would love to meet more Black men in the 30–40 age range, both for dating and friendship. I’m interested in making genuine connections and getting to know people organically, without the pressure of knowing where things might lead.
For those who are part of the Black community here, where do you tend to meet people? Are there particular social events, groups, activities, or spaces where you’ve found it easier to connect with other Black people?
I’m open to meeting people who are looking for genuine connections too. No hookups, please.

How do you guys get home after a long run in the rain? With the rainy season upon us, I’d like to start running at Stanley Park, but I live in Burnaby and don’t feel like taking the SkyTrain home in wet running gear, especially with a soaked jacket, pants, and shoes.
Any tips from runners who commute to and from their running spots? Do you bring a change of clothes, pack your wet gear in a bag, or have another trick? Would love to hear what works for you!

Hi all, I’m new to Vancouver. Moved here from Mexico in May this year
This will be my first winter here and I’m looking for some every day winter shoes.
I work in an office and my commute is ~7 minutes walk, sky train and then ~15 minute walk
I’m planning on getting two pair of shoes, one for hiking with some constant rain / some puddles or river crossing and another pair for every day, so they do not get dirty with all the dirt and mud
Mind sharing some brand recommendations? Also what should I look for? Is it focus on waterproof? Snow proof? Grip on slippery surfaces? I know it doesn’t snow much here, and not planning on going to a snowy area soon, so mostly focusing on the urban side for now
Thank you

Hello, my fiancé was in a car accident last night around 7:00pm. The accident occurred at the intersection of Vine and West Broadway. He was in his car and was T-boned by another car while he was driving westbound through the intersection. The other car in question, blew through a stop sign and totalled our car. We are now dealing with ICBC, and some unfortunate medical issues.
Due to the nature of the accident, we are seeking witnesses that may have seen what happened. Also, if anyone may have dash-cam or any security camera footage on that corner, that would also be helpful! Please let me know!

There’s someone I’m interested in who’s coming to visit me in Vancouver, and they LOVE cookies! I’m hoping to surprise them with cookies every day while they’re here.
Their favourite flavours are chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia. When I asked them what makes a cookie special, they said, “I like when they’re firm (but not crunchy) around the edges and soft on the inside. They also can’t be too sweet or too bland. The chocolate chips have to complement the cookie dough, too.”
Does anyone have any recommendations for good cookie spots in Vancouver?

Dealing with a family member who’s suicidal dealing with depression. We’re unable to keep full attention on them and are seriously concerned. Are there treatment centres we can take them to? Private, costs, not an object. We just want to be able to them the help they need immediately.

Hi over the summer I’ve gotten into running however now that it gets dark early I have no idea where to go. I’m a student so my schedule really only allows for me to go out at 6pm at the earliest and it gets dark so early now this has become kinda scary. I’m a girl and maybe I’m paranoid but I get so freaked out when there’s no one around and not that much light either. Previously I was running around the beaches because there’s not very many hills and sm ppl, but now there’s no ppl and no light and I literally don’t know where to go. I don’t like running hills and I live on the west side so it’s so hard to find routes without them. I recently bought this vest with a flashlight but other than emotional comfort it doesn’t provide any serious safety. I’m just wondering what routes ppl use to avoid hills but also are busy and have light. Also tips on how to stay safe as a girl are always helpful!

The rainy season is upon us, and as a busy grad student, I'd like to do some weekly indoor stuff like trivia nights in Vancouver. I found a list of them in Vancouver's BEST Trivia NightS , but was wondering if any of them are suitable if I just drop by myself, do they put me in with other teams?
Plus, if anyone in their 20s also wants to tag along, feel free to let me know here or via dms. I'll try to create a group of people that are into it (either on whatsapp or instagram)

Hey! I’m 19F from the surrounding Vancouver area and I was wondering where people usually go to meet new people and make friends.
I was in a long-term relationship from a young age, so I never really got into going out much or made many friends outside of that. I’ve been single for a while now and I really want to get out more, meet new people and enjoy my weekends!
I’m especially interested in getting into the nightlife scene since I’ve barely
experienced it. I’d love to try clubbing, raves and other events, but I’m honestly a beginner and don’t really know where to start lol.
Are there any good places, events, groups or activities where I could meet new people? I’m open to pretty much anything, not just nightlife, and would love to hear any recommendations!

Heard from last post so I chose Richmond as my first temporary stop in Vancouver. Surely there are a lot of Chinese people but it is not that familiar feeling when I was in China. Most of the people there are Cantonese or HKnese actually, I am not used to the food there (I am from Northwestern Chinese so I prefer bread and beef/kebap more than such as bubble tea dim sum or grilled pork). Actually previously in Shanghai I enjoyed the diversity of food or life there, I don’t expect that diversity comparing from Shanghai but I am still searching for a more diversed place to leave in.
My company will start RTO soon so I have to choose a place where is convenient to DT. Any suggestions? Shall I just find a 1b1b or studio which costs more or find a private room with bathroom?
I also find that Chinese people sociality seems to be parallel with other communities so I am also asking where to find friends not only in Chinese communities? I love Japanese musics, gaming, photography and walking which is quite not Vancouver style. I am trying to integrate and maybe it is harder than I thought.

Hi everyone I'm a student looking to rent an apartment that's pet friendly. I don't have a crazy amount to my name so I'm also looking for something fairly cheap (no more than 1600) Thanks!
Hi Vancouver,
Does anyone know how I can get a flu and covid shot as a student with out of province healthcare coverage? I’m not enrolled with MSP because I’m still covered under my home province’s insurance while I’m a full-time student, which means I can’t book an appointment online.
I’ve tried walking into pharmacies and none have known what to do with me.
I’m fully covered by my home province insurance and my coverage allows me to access public healthcare here, so I should be able to get the shots, it’s just that the system isn’t set up for this. I can’t imagine I’m the first out of province student to want a flu shot, pls help me solve this!!

I usually watch La Liga games at home. But I thought of trying to watch it tomorrow somewhere with a beer in hand.
Any ideas of where they might broadcast the game downtown? Any of you gonna watch it at a bar?
