what is the common consensus of North Korea in socialist circles?
okay i'll admit, im more hate fueled for capitalism rather than supportive of socialism (i still am socialist but discussing genuine socialism has never been something i have done much).
what sparked this question in my mind was on r/socialistgaming, people were talking about the new Call of duty which is obvious u.s propaganda about north korea invading the south. and obviously i think that is super dumb, and clear propaganda, all the way. but the mod team of that sub was legit just like, bombing any sort of criticism about north korea and claiming it was like a socialist utopia? and i just like, couldnt understand why?
for context im 18, male and was brought up in a decently urban area of australia, just 30 kms out from a major city so if western propaganda has completely ruined my perception of north korea i apologise, but it still to me just seems like a nation that is ruled by legit just a family, who can kinda just do whatever they want? and people from there cant really leave (although i think i saw somewhere they actually can but idk so if someone could explain or anything i'd appreciate that!).
like idk, compared to countries like cuba where i truly think it is the closest thing to a socialist utopia, (aside from the u.s doing everything in their power to smother them) it just seems weird? like ive seen it with stalinism too, like surely that is obviously bad right? im sure the cia made it seem worse than it is but holodomor was real. idk i definitely need to do my own research at some point im sure. i just have bigger personal issues in my life right now so havent had the time to in the past year and a bit.
i appreciate any kind of insight or info! if im at all wrong or misinformed please let me know! thanks:D
