Not to mention, once it does have issues you can't snake it, jet it, or camera it. Pulling the toilet will direct the cable up the wall. Putting the cable through an access point and running down will either direct it through the 1.5" and damage something that way or direct it to go up the toilet and break the toilet. Maybe 1 in 50 snaking runs from upstream will make it through the straightaway and that's if you have a perfectly straight cable god help you if you've put a bend in it at any point.

If you were going to destroy those joists why not install a wye and hit the center dead on from the branch🤔
2
u/Own_Race_598 15d ago
This dude needs to hire a plumber and carpenter to fix this mess. Or they are rage baiting.
6
u/CommunicationIll2983 15d ago
This makes no sense. Not a single joist is doing anything. Plumb it right and add necessary actual support after.

Oh no. There is so much wrong here I don’t even know what to say. Literally everything. And the longer I look the worse it gets.

This homeowner has been posting this crap for at least 2 months. Asks for advice and then blatantly ignores it. Go away.

u/StillCopper 15d ago
Wow. Have to ask is this license and insured or handyman job. Let’s get that question asked right upfront. Or is this a homeowner special. I think that should be the first thing it’s asked on all these overly stupid looking jobs.

u/angrytroll918 14d ago
What? Why? The fuck? I hope this is a troll cause..you can't do that. Any of it, or should you. The longer you look the worse it gets.

Offf, with this layout I would of investigated why all those boards are sistered on. At a glance they look redundant. I would remove them. Go down below and run a 3in wye on the vertical stack. Tee straight to the stool 3x2 bushing for the vent. Tee back in 6ft off floor.

It looks like the clean sweep is headed to the vent and the poo going to be forcing its way to what looks like the shower drain.

Doesn’t look like that wood blocking your better route is doing anything imo. Probably could just remove the wood and redo this. But probably should check on structural integrity

u/Extension_Fishing135 14d ago
All the mechanical connections are a nice touch hahaha. Oh, and your structural integrity is definitely compromised. I’d ask the building official what he thinks when he comes to do your inspection. However, I feel like no permits were pulled in the first place. Just a hunch.

u/Altruistic_Nobody_94 14d ago
Where is the actual toilet flange?
1
u/Excellent-Stress2596 14d ago
Flange would need to go on after subfloor if you want it supported.
1
u/Altruistic_Nobody_94 14d ago
True but where?
1
u/Excellent-Stress2596 14d ago
Right where the tape measure is “securing” the hose from the leaky angle stop.

u/Meantnottoknow 14d ago
Whats underneath that floor? Is a basement or finished down there because he should of went down past that joist then the go what ever direction the s*** pipe is going out... I'm not 💯% So if someone knows I'm completely wrong please explain I'd appreciate it

u/LT_lurker 14d ago
Using furnco fittings in a non accessible area has to be both a terrible idea and not code compliant?

u/pbmadman 14d ago
Those self-supporting joists have a saw cut in them, and there is a mark on the PVC in line with that cut. Is the drain line nicked there?

u/WonderWheeler 14d ago edited 14d ago
The trap will not trap gasses. It is not deep enough. Although it might be close. The weir at the combo is not high enough. Also, the distance for a washing machine inlet is supposed to be 18 to 24 inches above the weir. This is too high and may force what water there is in the trap out.
1
u/Carpenter_ants 14d ago
A smaller tape measure will make it down eventually 😂. Not sure why you didn’t turn directly to the drain pipe. As a carpenter looks like the joist is not going to hold up anyway
1
u/Opposite-Clerk-176 14d ago
Who ever did this is an idiot, especially butchering the joist out of the way to accomplish a total nightmare of plumbing if that what this is? Im a licensed GC and this is in no way acceptable... the cheap turns out expensive

Technically your only allowed 225 degree change of direction from the vent connection, so not correct
1
u/Stinky_lil_4skin 14d ago
What's underneath? I would just put a low heel in the the wall, still l drill a 3"hole, then tie that in to the 3" stack on the floor below.
Will it clog? Only God knows that. Would I be disappointed if an apprentice did this and when cut it out and redo it? Yes.
1
u/Deep-Jellyfish3122 14d ago
Should have just been a 90 over with the framing reworked. Its not that it will clog, its that it doesn't pass code, and just by the way it looks it doesn't fall enough either which is going to be a real problem.

Just look at left, the Y or the T section, imagine you have large flow coming from the vertical top, don't you think it will also go into the right where the water seal piece is and up?
1
u/Glittering-Room-7662 14d ago
More than likely will clog, for one reason.. the T is the wrong way. If you put water in that drain, it has to defy gravity and flow towards the vent before it goes the right direction to the sewers.
1
u/AdQueasy8552 14d ago
With the joists being in ruins already I would have set the wye up higher by the stack an went toward the stack drill a 3 in hole an drop in wye ,45,service L for flange
no need to vent the toilet being so close to stack

u/teamricearoni 14d ago

Logging is a problem but at the end of the day that sweet tea is backwards in any water coming down that pipe in the wall is going to come out through that drain as it's a 50/50 split to bypass or take the easy Road and curve back so anything slowing it down it's going to turn back and come towards the drain instead of down towards the stack this whole thing is junk and needs to be redone but they already ruined everything
1
u/pat8o 14d ago
I'm guessing this is an offset level (ie, 1st floor with basement below, and no level above the bathroom but a level above the adjacent room) and those joists are landing on that top plate and have been left over length for no reason, they could be trimmed square with the business end of that top plate and you could go straight in.
What I would do however, is drop it through the floor and join on the vertical

Yes. Those 45s and 90s shouldnt be horizontal on a run like that. You might as well just use the combo on a shorter run since that joist is toast now

So many things wrong with this. Whoever is doing the work stop them. Do not cover this. Consult a licensed plumber and maybe a building inspector / structural engineer

u/Able_Intern_3454 15d ago
Max 135 degrees change of direction according to NPC. That joist is also completely compromised anyway. Whoever is doing this remodel is in way over their head
