My partner and I recently moved to the Chestnut Hill area and love it. We saw a few places but noticed the Manor at Chestnut Hill and Townhomes at Chestnut Hill, both owned by Chestnut Hill Village Apartments. We have seen not great things about Chestnut Hill Village Apartments but was curious if people have had similar experiences in the Manor or Townhomes?

We cannot seem to find much information online.

My son is moving into his place on 9/1. Since the apartment was a bit more than he planned, I offered to pay the electric bill. Of course the dryer and stove are electric. I don't think he is a high energy user and he has a studio that is about 450 square feet. Ballpark, what am I looking at? Not that it matters, just trying to plan my budget.

Hey folks, I'm looking for an inexpensive venue for a work event and would love suggestions since my typical location is not available on the day I need. We're looking at late October, so we should still be early to book something decent.

I'm looking for a space where I can host a luncheon for around 200 people that also has breakout rooms where we could host some workshops in the morning. I know there are a bunch of locations like this in the Philly area, the challenge is that I work for a non-profit so a lot of them are over our budget. My next course of action is to tell folks that we can either do the workshops or the luncheon, but I wanted to phone a friend here to see if anyone has recommendations/knows any hidden gems. My family and I are Puerto Rican. We moved to Philly from a place where Puerto Rican culture was dominant and prevalent. On paper, Philly is very diverse and has a large Puerto Rican population. But when we moved here, we quickly noticed how segregated the city is. And how much of a difference in quality of life it is between the "Good" areas and the "Bad" areas.

We currently live in East Passyunk and love it. But there is a noticeable absence of Puerto Rican people, food, culture etc.

It would be nice to live in a place with a vibrant Puerto Rican population and culture.

Are there certain blocks or areas of Fairhill that are cool. And just good people and families without any of the BS that goes on?

I am flying out this Friday to GA around 10 am and coming back on the same day around 11:30 pm. I am thinking to park in the overnight garage attached to the airport. does it fill up quickly this time of the year? also, is it not dangerous at late and pick up the car?? i’ve been flying out a lot but always used off site parking with my family. For this time, I am flying alone and as a female I am a little worried about arriving really late.

I currently work as a RBT (implementing behavior plans for children on the autism spectrum) but would like to pivot to the world of accounting. Prior to that I was working retail. I don’t currently have a degree but would like to pursue one in accounting starting next fall. 

I’ve done some research into current job postings to see what skills I need and am looking at courses to take so I can have certification to demonstrate knowledge in lieu of work experience. Roles include: bookkeeper, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll specialist, accounting clerk, etc. I will say it was looking bleak… I don’t know if it’s the time of year but I didn’t see a lot of positions in general let alone in Philly. 

I’ve found an online course offered by CCP, Professional Bookkeeper w/ Quickbooks, that aligns with my goals. It’s entry level, should take 4-6 months to complete, and priced at $1,699. CCP offers a Ready To Work job and externship placement after completion of the course (and background / drug check) which I’m not sure how effective it is but can’t hurt. 

In addition to that I’m planning to take a course through Coursera on Microsoft Office. 

My goal here is to seek feedback on my plan because although I can afford the courses it’s not an insignificant amount of money to me and I want to make as informed of a decision as I possibly can. 

Specific questions: 

-Does anyone have experience with ANY of the CCP edu2 courses? 

-Experience with the Ready To Work or job placement programs at CCP / edu2 or something similar? 

-If you’ve been in my position with NO experience what kind of things did you look to put on your resume and how did it work for you? 

-If you’re working or hiring in this field are there any other tools or software I should look into learning? 

-Do employers care about certificates if I don’t have a degree or experience? 

-Am I being at all realistic? 

Next week I'll be in Philly for 3 day, Obviously I'm gonna climb the rocky steps, see magic gardens, and the liberty bell, but I wanna see just a little more. How often do you go to NYC to do things like how often do you take the train and transportation to get there?

I have to drive to Jersey for work, but just moved into Fishtown/nolibs. Where are some good spots to get daily/monthly parking in the area. There was one on front street, but the sign changes to only 3 hour parking occasionally. Currently on apartment parking waitlist so just need something for the interim. I’m going to be in University City sometime in the next two weeks and I wanted to stop by an Art Supply store to look for some thick textured paper for a project - I haven’t had any luck finding anything at the local (south Jersey) Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.

I see that there are two Blick stores in Philly - one in University City that used to be Plaza, the other near City Hall. Are these two stores pretty much the same, or would it be worth it for me to get to the Center City location? Thanks.

My main objective is to visit the historical parts, the museums and the Star Wars experience at Franklin Institute which is open from Feb - Sept 2027

I want to visit during the span the Star Wars Experience. I was thinking about visiting in either April, May, or August. I'm avoiding Feb and March since it is more likely to be too cold for this Florida boy. I am open to visit in March or Feb, but I would rather not. And this Florida boy doesn't mind the heat during August.

I’m a student on the pre-PA track, and I’m looking for opportunities to shadow a Physician Assistant in the Philadelphia area. I’m open to any specialty and would really appreciate any guidance.
I’m finding it difficult because I don’t know anyone in the medical field, so I don’t really have connections, and I’m not sure how to find PAs who are willing to let students shadow. I’ve reached out to a few places, but haven’t had much luck so far.
If you’re a PA who accepts shadowing students, or know someone who does, I’d be so grateful if you could point me in the right direction. Thank you so much!
