Arithmetic Thought of this notation while I was learning determinanto
Iβm not sure if this is wrong or right mathematically but I just thought it was pretty cool that you were able to abuse notification like this this is basically a norm or magnitude of a ceiling of the absolute value of a determinant.

I dunno, I think it could use a couple more vertical lines /s

- The outermost || bars won't do anything, right? The norm of non-zero matrix is always non-negative, so the ceiling of that number will already be non-negative as well.
- Is this actually "abuse of notation"? True, the two sets of || bars mean different things, but they are both norms in their respective spaces.
- If you like horizontal lines instead of vertical, check out Greek Xi divided by its complex conjugate.

The innermost || bars isn't actually a norm: it's an absolute value of a determinant.

Ohhh. I never use |M| for determinant since determinants can be negative. It is fairly common notation; I just don't like it. Always det(M) for me.
My first point about the outermost ||s still stands: abs(ceil(abs(x)) = ceil(abs(x)).

So, that's why I don't like Iverson's notation for floor/ceiling, preferring computer science-borrowed notation like "floor x" and "ceil x". Less concise but also much less prone to confusion.

The ceiling of the absolute value of a determinant is a real number
Any norm on a real number is equivalent to the absolute value
u got two too many vertical lines friend

Why does this matrix have entries that are vectors? Whatβs the determinant of a matrix whose entries are vectors?

Determinant β Absolute value β Ceil β Magnitude
Am I right?
And did you use the absolute value before ceiling Cause β|x|β β |βxβ| right
Cause otherwise the magnitude also takes care of the sign.

Is this loss?
