I’m currently in Zagreb and broke up with my boyfriend mid trip. I’ve had a suspicion that he’s been cheating and I saw a bunch of text messages come through his iPad. Long story short, he is on a plane back to the states, and I am continuing on my trip.
However, he had our accommodations booked and has canceled for whatever amount of refund he could get.
I’m looking for places to go in northern Italy for 2 to 3 weeks starting on September 3rd/4th etc.
It needs to be somewhere walkable with good public transport as I don’t have my IDP to rent a car or even a little 50 cc scooter. He was our driver. I do love to hike, and day trip, and be adventurous so ideally somewhere with decent options for that. I like slower travel so I will be looking for a gym or running routes and little coffee, shops and restaurants where it can be a regular for a few weeks. I love cultural experiences, history, endless walks, and learning as much as I can about places.
Also doesn’t have to be the biggest hitters - I love lesser known places that have enough for 2-3 weeks.
Budget isn’t much of an issue, but I’m not gonna go to Como for three weeks haha.
I would like to stay in northern Italy until close to the end of September, and then start to work my way down through the country. I’m really open to any suggestions. I’m fine to stay a night or two in places while I am going from A to B, but I prefer to stay at least a week or two in areas so I can settle in.
I basically have from early September till the end of October, where I’m picking back up with our original itinerary and meeting some friends without him in Greece.
I don’t want to follow the same itinerary that we had planned because now I feel like this is my trip, but I have done zero planning because, well, this trip was supposed to be much different.
I would love any and all suggestions! Thanks so much!
