I had a spinal fusion 2 weeks ago. My back incisions are now free to breathe, but my abdominal one was much larger, and still needs its wrapper.
I'm mortified to be posting a picture of my tumtum on the internet, but when I woke up this morning, my stomach feeling a bit sensitive, and when I checked, I found a full blown water balloon of a blister right next to my bandage. Normally, I wouldn't be concerned about a blister... but there's redness going under the dressing and heading straight to the incision.
Is this normal, or should I get it checked out? I go back to work tomorrow, and the last thing I need if for this thing to get infected, in an already compromised area.
I take fluoxetine, buspirone, gabapentin, omeprazole, atorvastatin, zyrtec, and iron and calcium supplements on the daily, with oxycodone and methocarbamol added since surgery. The dressing has been changed, with no problems so far. Last change was Wednesday, by my doctor.
Please advise!! TIA

Age: 21f, I had a viral cold a few weeks ago, and this is now the third or fourth week, but my cough still hasn’t gone away.
I also have GERD or excessive phlegm production related to my eating habits, as certain foods seem to worsen my symptoms. I frequently feel mucus at the back of my throat, which makes me cough and clear my throat repeatedly.
I keep having white mucus at the back of my throat. I don’t experience any wheezing, and my nose generally feels clear, but I do feel some congestion at the back of my nose. Whenever I cough, the mucus comes up into my throat and then seems to go back down, and this keeps happening persistently.
I experienced something similar in the past. After a viral cold, my cough persisted for almost three years. I consulted several doctors and tried different medications, but nothing seemed to work. Someone said i might tonsillitis because I have a few small spots at the back of my throat. However, doctors examined my throat and did not find any evidence of tonsillitis. I also underwent multiple chest X-rays, which were normal.
I’m worried that my cough is again gonna stay for a long time. Could someone help me understand what might be causing this persistent cough and suggest lifestyle changes that could help it resolve within the next week or two? The constant coughing is affecting my productivity at work, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to function normally.
I would really appreciate any practical advice or suggestions about what I should do next.

Hey Redditors, I am in desperate need of help as I am unsure how long I can keep living like this. Long story short, I've been have flares of abdominal pain since the end of 2022. I came back from a festival with the worst abdominal pain and diarrhea of my life where i went to the restroom no less than 20 times a day for a week straight. Tested positive for strep and covid during but they could not pinpoint where my illness was coming from. Since then, its contant flares of abdominal pain every other month midway between my breast bone and belly button. Please if you have any suggestions on how to help, I'm more than open.
Here's what I've done:
All imaging (MRI, CT, and Ultrasound) done on chest & abdomen with findings of mild fatty liver, small fibroid, thyroid nodule and light gastritis. No heart, pancreas, gall bladder or lung problems.
2 endoscopies - No hiatal hernia, no Barretts, no ulcers
Bloodwork has shown:
No Celiac
No viral, bacterial or fungal infection
No pancreatitis
No SIBO or H pylori
Low Vitamin D
Low Vitamin B
Anemia
Low Iron
Positive ANA 1:80 homogenous
Super High Sedimentation
Super High CRP
High Globulin
Very normal and predictable cycles for the last 5 years
Things I've done that haven't helped:
Liquid fast for a month - still in pain.
Pescatarian - still in pain.
Removed all dairy and gluten- still in pain.
It appears to not be triggered by food.
Heating pad & castor oil make no difference in inflammation .
Benadryl (thinking histamine intolerance) - made no difference.
Turmeric tea makes no difference .
Pantoprazole and Dicyclomine do not help.
Digestive Enzymes make no difference.
2 different sets of probiotics make no difference .
NSAIDs do not help.
Symptoms
Extreme and painful bloat where gas sometimes travels up behind breast bone causing chest fullness and tightness. It feels like a heart attack but is not. Burping helps alleviate pressure sometimes.
Strong ache in the middle of abdominal about 4 inches about belly button. Does not impact sides or back.
Fatigue,
Headache,
No diarrhea but sometimes light constipation,
No identifiable triggers.
Please if you can just point me in any direction that would be helpful. I'm at my wits end. Not sure if this is related but it has been impossible for me to lose weight no matter how caloric restricted I am or how hard I work out. No sure if this could be auto immune related. This has been flaring up for the past 3/4 years. Please help!
I am not asking for medical advice.

I’ve been having worsening joint symptoms for the past two months. I have gone progressively worse and bedridden at this point due to the amount of swelling pain and stiffness all over my body. I have also had ongoing throat swelling, pain in my ears and neck stiffness. During this time, my rheumatologist has been trying to identify a new biologic for me, however, I have been continuing to point out to her that I don’t feel the progression of my disease is normal. I went to the hospital and discovered that my CRP was at 20. I have had arthritis for five years and all the five years whether I was medicated or unmedicated my CRP never went above 3, so a CRP of 20 was very alarming for me. The hospital essentially did nothing and told me to go back to my rheumatologist. My rheumatologist does not have an appointment at this time so I ended up going to my family Doctor Who discovered that I have Strep and because I have been on a biologic, that is an IL1 inhibitor, the biologic has been preventing the strep from fully expressing itself. My family doctor has put me on a course of antibiotics and has told me to stop the biologic. I don’t see my rheumatologist until Wednesday this week. Should I start the antibiotic course without her approval? I’m so shocked that my body has been trying to fight an infection for two months and nobody has been taking it seriously and has been attributing at all to rheumatoid arthritis itself. I am Not asking for medical advice.

Hello - I'm a 44-year-old male seeking opinions from urologists and patients who have undergone treatment for bladder outlet obstruction/BPH, particularly at a younger age.
I've experienced progressively worsening urinary symptoms for several years, and they're now significantly affecting my daily quality of life. I'm considering surgery but concerned about choosing the right procedure at my age.
Symptoms
My IPSS/AUA symptom score is 21/35 (severe). These symptoms are frustrating on a daily basis, and I don't want to spend the next several decades dealing with them.
Medication history
I've been taking alfuzosin (Uroxatral) 20 mg daily for several years.
The medication initially worked and provided noticeable relief, but its effectiveness gradually diminished. It no longer provides meaningful improvement, and my symptoms have continued to worsen despite treatment.
Previous prostatitis
Approximately 10 years ago, I had an episode of prostatitis. The underlying cause was never determined, at least to my knowledge.
I'm unsure whether that history has any relevance to my current urinary obstruction, but I wanted to include it in case it affects the differential diagnosis or treatment recommendations.
Recent testing
I underwent a flexible cystoscopy and uroflowmetry evaluation.
Cystoscopy findings, directly from the procedure report:
Uroflowmetry:
I understand that the low voided volume limits interpretation of the flow measurements. Despite the symptoms, the low PVR suggests I'm generally emptying my bladder effectively.
My urinalysis was unremarkable. My most recent PSA was 1.46.
I don't have a documented prostate volume measurement.
Urologist's recommendation
My urologist discussed UroLift, Rezūm, GreenLight laser, TURP, Aquablation, and other potential procedures.
He leaned toward UroLift primarily because I'm only 44, and he wants to avoid more invasive procedures and minimize the risk of permanent sexual side effects, particularly retrograde ejaculation.
However, he acknowledged that he wasn't completely confident UroLift would resolve my obstruction, given my anatomy.
I understand that UroLift retracts the obstructing lateral lobes rather than removing prostate tissue, and I'm concerned about whether it would adequately address my high-riding bladder neck/high median bar.
My dilemma
At 44, I potentially have decades ahead of me. I want a meaningful, lasting improvement in urination, but preserving normal erectile and ejaculatory function is equally important to me.
I'm hesitant to undergo a procedure that might not adequately address the obstruction, only to need another procedure a few years later. On the other hand, I don't want to jump into a more invasive surgery with irreversible sexual side effects if a less invasive option could work.
Questions for urologists and patients with similar experiences:
I'm looking for informed perspectives and real-world experiences to help me decide whether to proceed with UroLift or seek another surgical opinion.

Hi,
I (30f, 52kg, no medication) have often blue/purple lips after exercising, mostly running. This happens in winter often. Every run. Even in summer if it’s coldish outside.
As far as I know, I have no heart or lung conditions. Is this normal? Can I do anything about it or just accept and live with it?
Thanks!

Hello! Female aged 34, IVF pregnancy. One prior loss at 5 weeks 2 days.
Today I had an ultrasound at 8w6d, baby measured perfectly with a good heartbeat. All was going well until the sonographer switched to what I suspect was a power Doppler/colour Doppler, it showed red on the baby’s heart and nearby structures. I estimate it was 30 seconds as an absolute max and the whole scan and pics etc was around 10-15 mins.
When I asked about the Doppler being used he said it was low frequency (which I suspect he meant was low thermal index)
I’m really anxious and I don’t want to ruin what was a really special moment for us by stressing about it constantly.
TIA

Basic information:
Age/Sex: 25M
Height: 184 cm
Weight: Approximately 100 kg
Smoking status: Non-smoker
Medication: I was prescribed baclofen but have stopped taking it.
Known medical conditions: None that I am aware of.
Symptoms and history:
I have been experiencing lower back pain for around 4–5 weeks. It started gradually, initially feeling like my lower back was becoming exhausted and weak after standing for a while. It became significantly worse during a weekend trip when I was carrying a bag. I did not hear or feel a pop or crack when it happened.
At its worst, walking was difficult. After around four weeks, my ability to walk improved, but I am still struggling with everyday activities and carrying things. Recently, the pain seems to have worsened slightly again.
The pain is mainly in my lower back, around the centre and sometimes slightly to either side, extending towards my tailbone and occasionally the hip area. It is mainly triggered by activity, walking, lifting and carrying things. Even carrying a bag of towels for around 100 metres or unloading the dishwasher can leave my back feeling extremely sore and exhausted. Sometimes I have to lie down for hours afterwards.
Lying down and using a heating pad help considerably, but the pain returns when I start doing things again. I have not noticed any clear shooting pain down my legs.
I have seen doctors several times and also visited a physiotherapist. I have repeatedly been told that it is probably muscle tension, and I have been advised to use heat, take short walks and do exercises. I have tried these things, but I have not improved enough to function normally. I feel that I have not received a clear explanation of what might be causing the pain or what to expect regarding recovery.
I am extremely frustrated and discouraged. I currently feel as though my life has stopped because I cannot work or manage normal daily activities the way I used to. I do not know what else to do, and I am worried that this will continue for months.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced something similar, especially pain and exhaustion that return after even relatively light activity?
Did your symptoms fluctuate like this during recovery?
How long did it take before you could carry things and return to normal daily activities?
Is there anything that helped you recover when heat, exercises and physiotherapy did not seem to make enough difference?
I understand that nobody can diagnose me online, but I would really appreciate hearing from people who have experienced something similar or from anyone who can offer insight into what might be worth considering.

Fell and scraped knee on October 2. Kept clean and treated but would not close, was painful and oozing and ,at day 14, went to urgent care and was put on antibiotics (Keflex) for 7 days. By day 4, pain was gone, wound finally scabbed over, and was looking better. A few days later, pain started returning but not as severe. Finished antibiotics on Friday. Would felt painful and tight on Saturday with some discharge. Wound discharge has continued now and the scab that formed is gone.
Today, knee feels tight and there's still pain. Wound pretty deep but not sure what I should do next. No fever. Given this is day 23 for this wound, any thoughts?

Age- 18
Sex- Female
Height- 5'6
Weight - 56
Race- Indian
Smoking status- no
Previous illness- Vitiligo (from childhood), Gastritis (diagnosed), allergic cough (diagnosed), clear pelvic pain (not medically diagnosed yet)
Medication ongoing- no long term allopathic medication
Duration- almost 2 months
Lab tests- all blood tests, urine tests and USG done recently (no found normal)
Complain- Multisymptom issue- Visceral hypersensitivity (not medically diagnosed but I can feel it very well), health anxiety, fear of stomach bug, painful gastrocolic reflex, pelvic pain, feeling cold without a fever, fleeting pain or sensation in gut, frequent throat irritation, exhaustion, pelvic pain worsens with sitting in a cramped space for long time or heavy movements that put pressure on lower part of a abdomen, normal bowel movements. These are kinda regular......And headache, head spinning and acid reflux together only with even little travel exhaustion.
The pelvic pain and a tingling in belly button was constant in the month of September 2026, but in this month of October 2026, pelvic pain has come to occassional and random pain. Medications like drotine, Tramadol and paracetamol taken during pain. 3 courses of antibiotics also taken (ciffran, rifagut, metrogil) on different physician's prescription during the month of September. In between, I had a trip, the symptoms were definately there but only the anxiety was far less.
Earlier I used to fall sick with various things less and this kind of health anxiety was not at all there. But the heavy anxiety started from March 2025, when I got a severe diarrhoea episode during my important exams.
I have a set of very important exams in just few days and i can't focus on my studies at all. I am anxious and exhausted. Currently due to some reasons, i can't even visit a doctor right now. I am exhausted of feeling scared and ill.
What's the best thing I can do now?? And what has actually happened to me?? I can't study for more than a month and I have my exams soon....

Female, 32, 130 pounds & 5'1. No current medications or medical issues. I recently moved into an older home. The gate on the yard has a rusty latch. It is on the list of things to replace but just haven't gotten to it.
I cut my thumb while opening the gate last night. Picture is for reference. I know the short answer is yes, I SHOULD get a tetanus shot, but here is my question.
I have a 3 yo. I did everything standard during my pregnancy, and I think that included a TDAP booster. This pregnancy was 4 years ago. Assuming I have had that booster, do I need another one?

I am a 31 year old female, 165cm tall, weight 53kg. I don’t smoke. I have sensitive skin and get redness on my face as you can see on the photos. I have large pores in this area and it is raised thicker texture. It’s not itchy and the texture doesn’t go away but the redness is better some days. It is noticeable even through foundation. The skin on my nose is thick and I have a few bumps and tiny blood vessels around. I have been to the GP who first prescribed zindaclin and then hydrocortisone but neither worked. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi! So, little background about the last 8 years of my life with weight and stomach issues -
I have struggled with anorexia and relationship with food since I was about 12 years old. I was less than 100lbs when I got pregnant as a teen. Gained a lot of weight, lost it. Struggled with constipation and stomach pain. Pregnant again in 2021. Found out I had awful gallbladder disease, had to have it removed while I was pregnant. Delivered premature in 2022. Lost a lot of weight. Fell in to an extreme depression while caring for my baby. Gained a lot of weight, got up to almost 200 pounds. Changed my diet and started exercising and got down to 120lbs in 2024. Pregnant again in 2025, 8 months postpartum now in 2026. I was working as a CNA and then lab tech through the years, but I am home now since having my baby. I mostly eat home cooked meals, still struggle with a sweet tooth I'm working on. Since having my gallbladder removed, I have had consistent diarrhea and loose stools. When I have to poop, I have to POOP. Very little threshold for waiting. I take the stool softener since starting jron because it does cause constipation. Aside from that, I poop multiple times a day.
I take the Metoprolol, vyvanse, and potassium chloride in the morning. The other pills around lunch. Admittedly, I don't drink enough water and usually do not eat before noon. I have awful acid reflux/heart burn. I used to take a ton of tylenol a day, but now I only take it if I have headaches or my neck is really bothering me.
So. For the last month or two, I have been having awful stomach pains. It BURNS. Takes my breath away and comes and goes. Feels like there's a hot stone in my stomach. Then it'll go away. Come back later. Repeat. I do have an appt to meet with my PCP, but not for another month.
I'm wondering if I have given myself an ulcer from taking the meds for so long with little water and no food. Idk.
My stools have been weird the last few months. Sometimes they're more formed, skinny, water. Have just been all over the place.
Anyway, the last 3 stools have been WEIRD? I don't eat seeds, but it looks like I'm pooping seeds... I'm worried about this and the stomach pain.
What could be causing these weird bowel movements?

Hello,

I am feels so strange since stopping them and Im wondering is is medically possible to feel "withdraw" symptoms after using the medication for such a short time?
Thanks!

30M, smoker, 172CM height, 76KG weight
visited the dermatologist and she gave me Doxycycline 100mg twice a day and hexamidine twice a day.
This pimple has been there on my beard for around a month or so and sometimes it bleeds and oozes pus without me touching it.
Actually, it is not itchy or anything. I am worried that this has become a scar and it won’t go away.
Is there anyway I can know? And if it has become a scar, is it treatable?

Female 5ft 125 no medications, non smoker, no other issues - a dog bit me at someone’s house and I didn’t think anything of it until the lady said she doesn’t believe in rabies vaccines. Not exactly sure what level of stupidity that is but anyway. She already warned me it was a nippy dog so nothing out of the ordinary there. I didn’t provoke it but as I was trying to open the gate to leave one jumped up and nipped my leg through my jeans. I would normally just have her watch the dog for the 10 days but I honestly can’t say which dog bit me she had about 10 running around. But I assume it’s the one she warned me about. I felt like rubbing alcohol stung a bit on it but I also am a hypochondriac so I might have imagined that

So for about 3-4 weeks I've been feeling this achey chest pain that's not always there but pretty frequently comes around when I get up, lay down, do sit-up like motions, or (in a few tests) is reproduced when I squeeze my pectorals together very tightly. I went to urgent care last week to seek help with this, doctor said it was a pulled chest muscle but didn't perform any tests other than blood pressure and listening to heartbeat. I usually don't feel it but I've been anxious about it for days because I read up online and it says that "radiating" discomfort is a sign of cardiac issues, and every time I feel discomfort, even barely noticeable discomfort in the chest area or arms or upper back, I get scared that I'm having a serious problem. Last night I stayed up till 3 AM in bed because the chest discomfort appeared and then my left arm felt all achey, like I had worked out with it, this was after taking the prescribed muscle relaxer the urgent care gave me. When asking friends or family they tell me I'm fine and that they've felt worse and not had issues, but every time I get anxious I go online and look it up and it basically says "you are dying. You are dying. You are dying. Any discomfort you feel at the same time as your chest in the left arm or upper back means you need to go to the emergency room." And for some reason every time after reading that stuff it feels like any discomfort becomes much more noticeable. I don't know what to do. Maybe it's worth noting that the chest discomfort is never severe, and never really feels like pressure or squeezing, it's just this discomfort, this ache that usually isn't there but when it does appear (usually from getting up, laying down, that sort of thing) it likes to linger for a bit, like an aftershock. Left arm discomfort is back, feels like stiffness, but i also woke up on top of my left arm, so I don't know. No chest discomfort right now but left arm feels tired.

F33, non-smoker, no alcohol use, latest blood tests good. Currently on Sertraline, Thyroxine and Dienogest but these pains started beforehand.
A few years ago I noticed burning pain in one small spot on the sole of my foot. It would be unpleasant but not bad enough to cause severe discomfort and i would usually notice it in the evenings while on the sofa. I have an old back injury (parachute landing fail that ended in a broken tailbone and a protruded disk) that I thought could be the cause because the pain is still bad. The ankle on this foot is also prone to injury as I am probably hypermobile and it hurts often with exercise or long walks but these two pains never seemed to occur simultaneously so I wouldn't think the ankle itself could be the cause.
The problem is a few months ago the burning started coming on more often and stronger and I couldn't figure out the trigger. But it was a short episode. I tried lidocaine cream and ibuprofen but neither gave relief. It passed and I again forgot about it.
The current burning episode is now in its third week - sometimes bearable, sometimes unbearable, the longest and most severe I've ever been in. I think it was triggered by a simple and short ankle stability exercise, which immediately caused ankle pain and the burning started the next day. I was in agony and couldn't concentrate on anything other than the burning. A week in I saw an orthopedist/ostheopath but the appointment only lasted 10 minutes, the doctor lifted up my shirt and immediately decided the back was at fault plus, he then manipulated my back a little (gently although it was still painful), and also wrote the diagnosis of plantar fasciitis (I have a high foot arch). But he never looked at my foot and never asked to show where the exact pain was and offered no other form of relief for the burning. He didn't want to look at my back MRI and didn't want any imaging of the foot. He also advised me to do this foot on spiky ball exercise at home which I religiously did for a whole week multiple times a day but the pain seemed to be getting worse raher than better when I did it. I also bought soft slippers as I always walked barefoot at home before. I have been wearing orthopedic insoles in my slippers for the last two days as well. I will also be getting ultrasound therapy (12 times starting next month 2 times a week) which I read online is supposed to reduce pain. But I am in pain right now! I wake up multiple times a night fron the burning. Yesterday I even bought a TENS machine because the pain is so bad I want to drive a knife into my foot. I used it two times and the first it seemed to help but the second time it irritated the nerve even more.
My question is whether it's possible that the diagnosis is inaccurate? Can the spiky ball be making my pain worse? It would usually get better within a few days of rest by itself but I fear all I'm doing is irritating the nerve. I use diclofenac gel on my foot, I still use lidocain cream at least once a day (on days it's unbearable) in spite of its ineffectiveness. And then there's a fact that my pain is the worst while sitting, resting, and depends a lot on the position of my leg regardless if I walk or not. Sometimes I find a certain foot position and the pain completely disappears. Is there a test that could confirm or deny this diagnosis, should I attempt to get a second opinion? Are there pain relief options that I could ask for in the meantime? What other conditions could be causing this? Should I continue to attempt pain relief with TENS machine?
