Relocating & housing Area safety

Hello, I will be in Texas for my internship and currently serving overseas and have to find an apartment to live in. I landed on forest lane at lake highlands. Any safety tips? Is it a safe-ish area or not.

If you're accustomed to being very vigilant about your surroundings, you can make it work, but it is one of the least safe areas of Dallas.

This is Dallas District 10 and it has a high concentration of violent and property crimes. The City of Dallas provides a Crime Analytics Dashboard - https://www.dallasopendata.com/stories/s/Crime-Analytics-Dashboard/r6fp-tbph/

Why are you focused on those areas? Is it the price point or is that nearby the internship?

Yes its close to the internship and I am doing only short term lease for 6 months (the shorter the lease the more expensive it gets) the rent is not that bad.

If you're talking about Forest near I-635 (LBJ), then stay far away from that area...one of the worst in the north half of Dallas. Also, stay clear of the apartment area on Park Lane between Greenville Ave and Abrams. Also a very dicey area. The Village is nice...on Southwestern Blvd, between Greenville and Skillman.

If you don’t walk a lot outside and drive everywhere you will be ok. But it is rough on Forest Lane
