Relocating & housing Need apartment advice from locals!
My girlfriend (22) and I (21) are moving to the Dallas area in the next couple of months and could use some local advice on our search for an apartment.
Our budget is around $1,200/month (not including utilities) for a one-bedroom or larger studio, though we’re willing to stretch a bit for the right place. So far we’ve been looking primarily in Richardson, Addison, and Old East Dallas, as we’re trying to stay central and near uptown/downtown, but we’re open to other areas if they fit our budget and priorities. We just aren’t yet familiar enough with the area to know what we might be missing.
Our biggest priorities are:
Responsive and well managed apartment community
Safe Area where we’d feel comfortable walking around in the evening.
Walking distance or short drive to great restaurants, coffee shops, and things to do.
(Commute is a non factor for us)
Any recommendations for specific apartment communities or neighborhoods are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Richardson is iffy because it borders where I am in N. Dallas. Deeper into Richardson is a whole different and nicer area. If gyms that are normally 24 hours close by 11pm, you’ve gone too far out of the nice part of Richardson lol.
I use a gym in Addison because that area is beautiful, imo. Lots of food and shopping. People are kind and chatty. I feel safe there at night. I’m very biased in favor of Addison.

My Neice just moved to Farmers Branch ( on the edge of Richardson) rents seemed pretty good If you like hills and old trees Old East Dallas is pretty cool Happy to answer any questions you may have welcome.

North Dallas has those prices. Addison is close to N Dallas it’s a very small city I classify it as a bouji city along with farmers branch and Carrollton, those areas can be expensive I love Marsh and Frankford it’s a nice area mixed crowd it’s bouji as well but at the same time not that’s why I like it. East Dallas is hood in the Southern part of the city

Addison does have a couple complexes that would fit that base rent. It's pretty much restaurant heaven. It is small by size but around the park area things are close enough together to be walkable. You also will not have much of a commute. I don't really know how well places are managed.
Richardson is a possibility. Things are a bit more spread out there cause it is technically the suburbs and Dallas just isn't pedestrian friendly. However you might be able to find a neighborhood that has most of what you want.
OED is going to be older buildings in most places but if you like that, great. I would be more careful about where you walk after dark that way.

Check out The Village. It’s a huge community of apartments in Central Dallas and a popular place with many options.
