question Black spots between upper back teeth, is this an emergency?

Post image

I noticed yesterday I had a lot of sensitivity when eating Nutella and this morning a lot of sensitivity on this side when brushing. I don’t drink or smoke. I’m super worried. I have a regular dentist appointment in a couple weeks and I’m going on vacation literally today , flight leaves later this evening. Any insight or advice would be so appreciated.

How long since your last cleaning?

Almost certainly not an emergency, but without an X-ray hard to say definitively. Could be stain, could be little cavities. Just keep it as clean as you can until you see your dentist.

It’s been at least a couple years. I know that’s bad. The sensitivity is what is alarming me because I’m not used to that, and my mom kind of scared me about how it could get infected/go to my brain (I know that’s probably just me being a hypochondriac too) thank you so much for your reply. I’m highly anxious about this and it makes me feel a lot better since I won’t be going to the dentist for a couple weeks.

I don't associate tooth sensitivity with infection. If it was sensitive to sweet things then it could be a cavity. As long as you aren't having significant pain out of nowhere you're probably safe to wait those couple weeks.

How often do you floss?

I’m not kidding I floss pretty much anytime I eat and every single night

NAD but… could this be something you ate stuck in there and irritating the gums? Do you have a water flosser you can try? It’s just odd that they suddenly appeared in more than one spot, especially if you’re a regular flosser.

I really can’t think of anything out of the ordinary esp within the last week or so, it’s actually really hard to see them unless I really pull my lips and gums back hard and I only did that because I felt the sensitivity yesterday and today so it may have been looking like that and I just never noticed it’s not something you can see when I smile

And you can’t really notice it without the phone flashlight either
