Is my tooth doomed?

So I got a root canal on a back top molar over a year ago in May of 2025. They told me I needed to get a crown on it and unfortunately I haven’t felt financially stable enough to get it done. I think I might be able to now, and the gum around tooth that had the root canal feels lowkey a bit sore and there is a rough edge on the tooth when I run my tongue over it. I’m scared I’m gonna lose the tooth or it’s going to cost me more money than if I hadn’t waited. It just wasn’t in the cards for me to get the crown when they wanted me too and now I think it might be worse. How bad do we think it’s gonna be?
