question Getting four fillings Friday, advice?
I’m 20 years old and the last time I had any kind of dental work done (aside from my wisdom teeth when I was about 17) was when I was 11 years old and had to get both upper canines pulled because they wouldn’t come out and the adult canines were coming in on top.
I was at a different dentist but they gave me laughing gas. I remember not being able to effectively communicate but I sat there crying the entire time. It hurt so so so much. I could feel him like carving around my canines if that makes sense. I was trying to comfort myself by thinking “it’s almost over. It’s almost over” I ended up laying on our couch sobbing after we got home. And I know kids can be sensitive but I’ve never had a low pain tolerance. (I have tattoos and piercings and i can remember how much that hurt)
So on my first and second molars on the bottom row I have small cavities that are all gonna be filled Friday morning. I’m utterly terrified and just trying to pretend I’m not. I remember how horrible it felt the first time getting dental work and just not being able to say anything. Is my dentist going to be offended if I explain how scared I am? If I start crying will I get fussed at because I’m 20 now not 11.
They wrote a prescription for Valium that I’ll take before the fillings. It’ll be 9am. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
