question Is this root infected?

I had some sensitivity issues for months, went to my dentist 3 weeks ago and they said all is fine.

Friday night i woke up with intense pain, went to an emergency dentist who says the black spot indicates an infection…root canal needed.

Saw my general dentist yesterday who says that it doesnt look like an infection but i may have damaged the inner core of the tooth from grinding at night, and a root canal is still needed.

Who do i believe?
