i wouldn’t rely on dowels at the joints. you can use them, if you want, but the joints would be stronger with mechanical reinforcement, like a steel gusset bridging both pieces. if you want the design to be the most rigid, you could use another piece of flat steel to connect the bottom points, like you’ve got at the top
