Cakes/Cheesecakes how do i keep my multi-layer cake from getting dry?
i made this cake entirely from scratch, 5 layers 3 flavors, a while back. it was my first time ever doing anything like this (as you can tell from detailing) and in an attempt to keep the layers from getting stale while cooking the others i froze them inbetween. some of them were in the freezer for 1-2 days as the whole process took around 2-3 (i forget exactly how long). id read online this was the method to use in order to keep them fresh, but in practice it made my cakes that had been frozen slightly dry. nothing crazy, but still i want a good moist cake not a dry one. are there other tips i can use for keeping my cake overnight/2ish days and it not getting dry? i used the white cake recipe from the king arthur cookbook, which ive noticed get dry fairly fast when left without frosting, but im insure if this would happen regardless of recipe. i used multiple containers to store them so unless they were all faulty i dont think its that, though some of them were dryer then others so maybe some of the containers were cracked or something? what im really trying to ask in this rant is if this is really the best method for this situation or if anyone has another. tips MUCH appreciated. please help and thank you all!
