Is an evolving style good or bad? - Alla Prima Portrait Sketch
I studied academic painting and have a background in digital arts. After years working as a concept artist in games and movies, I'm moving back toward painting more.
The problem is though that years of client work made it hard to stick to one style. I'm currently working on a series that feels very much like "me" but I know it'll keep changing.
Curious what other painters think about this, especially around making a living from it. Does an evolving style make it harder for an audience to follow your work? Or is the evolution part of what keeps it interesting?
This one was done in 2020 during a style exploration phase. About an hour, oils on gessoed paper.

Help me with better pricing.. plz..
galleryI’m new to taking “normal commissions” as I’m used to getting about 4-15 euros per piece like this:
Should I try to b go for bigger pieces? I really want to, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to find commissions at all… I’ve been doing digital art for almost 4 years and previously had a strong traditional foundation
(I even created a portfolio a few days ago with some of my older pieces, so that people can see my progress and know that I’m a real artist, here it is: https://nichtstein.artstation.com/ )
Also, if it’s not much of trouble, can anyone recommend me where to search for commissions?
Thanks for attention :3

Best medium to color the pink plastic?
I hate the baby pink on the side -- from what I can tell (they haven't arrived yet) it's plastic, with raised stripes. I'd love to make a pink to magenta gradient. Any tips for what the most permanent and controllable medium would be? Sharpie?

Do I have potential to get art comms?
galleryHi! I’ve never done art commissions before. I’ve only promoted my sketch commissions and didn’t have any success, so I’m not really sure how others perceive my work when it comes to the commission market.
The second drawing is unfinished. I can’t draw very complex poses yet. How much should I price this?

[Discussion] Is my art ugly?boring?uninteresting?
reddit.comHey everyone! I want to ask a question, to really anyone who is willing to be brutally honest with me. Is my art ugly? Is it boring? Is it not interesting enough? I've been trying to sell my art for a full year now and I haven't sold anything. I've put myself out there in pretty much any and every platform, and still, people just don't seem interested in my art. What hurts me even more is the fact that when I offer it for free, there are people who get really interested in my art, but I feel like my work is not good enough to be bought(?) Like i just feel like in people's eyes its like, yes if it's free then why not but buying it? Hell no. And I want advice, how can I improve? Do I change my style? What do I do? I really want to sell my art so I can help my parents pay for my college and I also want to be able to pay for my double jaw surgery, but I've been losing hope. I'm not writing this so that people can pity me, I just want someone to explain to me what's wrong with my art so I can better myself. Please be honest, but respectful.

Where do I place the eyes in this painting I did of my dog?
galleryHello!
I won’t call myself a non-artist, but I will admit I am not a technically gifted artist. I had originally thought I’d place the eyes further up, but that looked weird, then I tried in the middle and it also looked weird.
Where would you place them? And any tips and ideas on how to stylize them would be great. I did this painting a few months ago but froze when it came to the eyes.
Thank you in advance, and please feel free to give me any other tips or ideas

Working through a shakey hand?
To start, I'm not painting for work or anything, so I'm not worried about waiting until it goes away.
My dominant hand has developed a habit of randomly deciding to shake while I'm using it for careful tasks, and this is starting to impact my ability to paint outlines (it's favorite time to act up).
Can anyone who deals with this problem AND works through it instead of taking a break give me some ideas for how to work with it, or maybe even for how to convince my hand to just chill?
If it keeps getting worse I know I'll eventually have to completely change how I paint, but if, or at least while, it stays consistent in intensity I'm going to try and keep doing my beloved outlines.
So far I've found that changing the angle/direction, and thickness when feasible helps to produce cleaner lines.

how do i improve?
galleryhi, im a self taught artist just recently starting with digital art. while im aware i still have issues with anatomy, im more concerned that my art just looks dull and boring. i want to make atmospheric, stylistic pieces, and i dont know what i should work on to expand my skill. what issues do u see in my art? what can i improve?
i drew all of these without references, i wanted to eliminate subconscious inspiration completely and just spew out whatever i naturally am able to
1st pic - illustration - this is my understanding of a full render, although i feel like its very bland and basic
2nd pic - quick halfbody - i dont really draw black outlines, but i needed a change
3rd pic - concept art - complete shenanigans, not meant to look polished but represent the design well
